Saw this chappy parked up on the M5 tonight between the Tiverton and Wellington junctions. Are 'Avon and Somerset' police able to pull somebody over in a 'Devon and Cornwall' area?

The police are the police and their jurisdiction isn't limited to 'their' area. The area you describe above though, isn't that right on the border of the two regions, such that if you go past the Tivvy junction northbound you have to go to A&S to get back and similarly if you go past the Wellington junction southbound you have to come into D&C to get back?

Yep, as said in my previous post

...believe it or not there are a few X reg omegas still snotting around....damned horrible things, but they do get out every now and then...

Saw a light blue W-reg unmarked Omega last night...I'm sure there's more police cars in Taunton than there are police. You can go into the town centre on a Saturday night and not see a single policeman walking around, but rarely can you drive from one side of town to the other without following or being followed by plod.

Thers an omega in dark blue round my way (taunton)but it must be coming to the end of its service as its a 53 plate easily recognisable in good light due to collection of aerials and strange wingmirrors.

Yes, a police vehicle is a police vehicle wherever it is and has the same powers to stop vehicles / arrest etc etc. However, why on earth A and S would be poaching on D and C's patch is beyond me, far too much going on in our patch...

If they're so busy, why did they spend 15 minutes following me (abiding by ever law in the book cos I spotted 'em) and then waste a further 15 mins booking me for a reg plate violation? Must be really busy. Planks

Phew, handbags at dawn....

Is your index plate standard or illegal?

Silly question

Forgot about this thread.
Ilminster bypass was a dark (met brownish) 1 series with the usual lights in the grill.
Assume he was chasing a A3 who had zero regard for the speed limit.
