If anyone has a spare car battery with a bit of go left in it I would be most grateful to relieve you of it for beer tokens / kind

Basically my 535i is going back to the car trader who sold it to me for a replacement...long story, but it's sub standard and he's changing it or another one following some 'negotiations'....fair enough, he's a decent sort (and yes he's a trader...)

I'm not driving it at the moment, but I decided to start it today to check it over, only to find the thing wont go and says "trans mode fail" on the warning display But, I reckon it's the battery as I swapped the trusty astra battery over, and it started fine. Funny thing, my battery charger shows the bmw battery to be full, but it obviously isnt..

Now, in theory I will only do one more journey in the car, from Bristol to Birmingham (or half way) and I'm damned if I'm buying a new 88ah battery for it (£100 or so) and I'm even loathed to pay £40 for a 60ah...so if anyone has one with enough go to start a 535i and get me to Brum, I would be most obliged.....

Ta folks...

You got a Europarts close by?

They do batteries as cheap as chips, supposed to be a 'leading brand' under a different name, put one on the 520 for less than £30!

Phil - forgot about that lot, they have an outlet not too far away, ta

Alec, I'll see what eurocarparts come up with, but if they don't have any in, I'll whizz up to cheltenham in the supersports astra .

Mike, I have an enormous (it might be too big though) ex-landy battery I'd be happy to part with if you're interested.

Hi Bill,
That might be just the job, as long as it's 88ah, or less. The one it will replace is a bit ot a big bugger too. Heres a pic, what do you reckon?

Hmmmm, it's not as big as that though

It's a Unipart Samson GBA 3072, but I can't find any ratings on it. (It's 10x7 inches btw)

Mike, forget the BMW - what you need is a fast and powerful four-wheel drive estate car! I know of such a car coming to market shortly...

I'll do my best to forget this s0dding bmw, been more trouble than it's worth....dealer is replacing it with another car though, and it's NOT a Bmw
I've given him an option list of
Audi A6/A8/allroad - with cash injection ( I Secretly have a major major hankering for a 4.2quattro A8)
Merc E / C class

I know your a good audi man, I presume the S2 is the one shortly for sale. Trouble is, choice is with wifey as I have a toy and not enough space to fit another....If I get a 4.2 quattro, I'll whip the badge off, she'll never know.

One things for sure, I feel a right melon, buying a clocked car what with the job I do.
