and jackdaw for time trialling down (unofficially m'lud)
where/whats that then? we only moved down last year and i have been at uni most of the time so i dont know much of hte local area.
Do you know the main entrance to Mamhead house and the twisty hill that takes you up to the top of Haldon towards the racecourse?
Coming down that at full chat is entertaining not least because half the corners are off camber meaning you can slide with ease round them and then by the time you've cooked the brakes sufficiently there is the hairpin near the bottom to negotiate.
Look for the hole in the hedge on the left there, a friend parked it on it's side trying to go round it too fast.

The road running west-east from spot height 236 to 65.
Yep i know this hill. you speed down it!!?? i used to fly up over it usually sideways on my quad. down would be nuts or is it closed off for a rally stage?
Some fantastic lanes around though for budding rally drivers.
I can't go up it fast (bloody small engines ) but coming down it quickly is easy enough!
Only do it at night though, its too busy in the daytime, as an aside Black Forest Lodge corner is an entertaining right hander going down the hill in the rain, it is a little off camber, next time you go around it note the entrance to the woods straight on in front of you, that's a handy escape route when the understeer monster takes over....trust me!

Bleddy hell a PH'er less than 5 minutes away! I live right by Kenton church.
Must have a pint over Chrimbo.
It's a good road through the grounds there as well, shame you cant play along it.

theres no reason why the road cant be temporarily closed for "maintenance work" for half an hour if hte right day is chosen! particularly so during hte christmas period as the offices at the castle is closed.

the company sold up and moved out last year cos of downsizing and we just fell in love with the house when we saw it, and have been there since about this time last year. it still has lots of office remnants in it eg about 100 phone lines, most rooms have 12double sockets etc etc.
it will take quite a long time to get it to be just the way we want it but it is still a very cool place to live.

Well it's a beautiful location; I went in around for a look a couple of years ago.....it looked like it would benefit from a little TLC! Besides time, it will take a few pound to restore it to it's former glory. A friend of the family sold up her place last year for £1.1m....you could easily spend another £2m restoring it. It was a shame to see it go as it had been in their family for a long time, however, it will be nice to see it brought back in order.
