Hi all, I'm fairly new to Wiltshire and came across a thread the other day on PH about Mini Motos etc etc so checked out the website and it’s pretty close to me. I have my brother down this weekend so we are heading over there on Sat for a few laps on the karts.

www.ultimatekarting.co.uk/

Anyone been?

Karts/Track any good?

Cheers all
Rob

hullavington is ok but nothing special. we (the bristol uni motor club) have had problems with the track before when it has been raining cos the moisture makes some parts of the track extremely slippery, to the extent that the marshalls were standing on the track throwing sand down while we were racing.

also, be careful in the car park. we have had one car need new front suspension after not looking where they were going and finding a big rut.

if you can be bothered to go the little bit further into bristol i would recommend looking at the avonmouth karting track (called "the raceway" ). it is very close to the M5, junction 18. in my opinion it is a much better place than hullavington. the track is longer, and has a bridge, and the marshalls seem more organised.
if you are a student you can also get reduced rates.

i dont think they do mini-motos at avonmouth, but they do at hullavington.

i hope this helps.

Thanks very much for that, can't go further as we have stuff on in the afternoon.

I will check out the Bristol one at some point as I love a bit of karting.

Not going on the mini motos - not my thing really

Thanks again for the info

Can't comment on the Hullavington venue (although I live within a few miles of it!), however, there's a place at Wroughton (between J 15 & 16 on the M4) that ain't too bad. www.swindonkarting.co.uk/
Problem is, they're building a shed-load of new houses nearby, and the signs for the karting site keep getting removed for some unknown reason! rolleyes

I went Karting at Combe a few weeks back, was really quite a good track, outdoors, so the karts are more powerfull, and not one of those track where you can do the whole lap flat out!

I used to go there with my bro many moons ago...We did get to the stage where you could take the whole track flat by sliding it in the correct way - may have changed now though (probably has).

We went to a track down at Cheddar back in August for his 'Stag weekend' which was a good track. Indoor, but they are quite relaxed - not too anal if you know what I mean although they dont like big contact!!
