Heads up for Sunday...

Due to roadworks and construction activities around the Cenotaph, BCC has agreed the use of Queen Square for the Remembrance Sunday service.

Parades will take place as normal following the usual routes and conviene in the Square.

Just so we are all clear, Queen Square will be closed on the 13th to all but authorised traffic, so no ADC/Breakfast Club meeting that day at the Square, FB QS Breakfast Club are holding their part of it at Rybrook Specialist Cars over near The Mall shopping centre.

Here is the letter from the old bill to the FB QS Breakfast Club......

Good afternoon Queen Square Breakfast Club Members.

We're aware of your regular meet and wanted to just make sure you were fully aware that on the 13th November there will be a Remembrance Day parade taking place in Queen Square. Due to this, there will be a number of road closures in place from very early in the morning which will prevent any vehicle access to the square itself. We wanted to tell you in advance so that you could reach out to your members and spread the message so that people don’t travel unnecessarily to Queen Square.

Apologies for any inconvenience this causes but I am sure you will understand considering the nature of the parade.

If you require further information, then please contact PC 3151 Woodman via 101. Thank you and have a good day

The meet at Rybrook is looking to be even bigger than the usual Queen Square one too so far which is rather exciting! Hopefully see some of you there!

Only one problem with that, there is less parking at Rybrook than QS!!!!

Apparently they'll be using a crane to pile cars up in stacks so more can fit in.

I think you can get about 3 to 4 in a stack before they topple

What a great event that was. It has to be the nicest car dealership + Aston Martin next door. For me the Mclarens are awesome.
Outside we had every brand you can think of, some unusual stuff, lots of Lambo, Aston, Lotus, Caterham etc etc. For me as a sportscar enthusiast, it was better than QS..... but then I did have a reserved parking space !!

It was a lovely morning, I tried looking around the showroom instead of licking the windows only to be told as I got to the door they are arranging tours but they are all fully booked, ah, back to window licking then. Thought that was why we were there, to look around? Good job I had a nose around last Tuesday when there was no one there.

Lots of lovely metal to look at, lovely bacon bap from the van, lovely that no one got killed or injured whilst nailing it out the junction. Lovely.

I was genuinely a bit surprised that no-one smashed into the curb, or a bunch of pedestrians, whilst leaving tbh. Could easily have happened with some of those squirming full throttle exits.

Anyway, the whole event seemed to work out brilliantly. Good location, good weather, interesting selection of cars etc.

Aye, this sounds promising. Not too far form my folks, either, so they could come and babysit for me!

It was busy (very busy in fact) but I thought parking was well managed and there was space for all that arrived. There was a lot more areas that had agreed to be used, not just Rybrook.

All things considered it was a great event, hope there's more to follow!

For anyone who didn't make it you can get a grasp of the day from my video smile

Couple of drone shots someone kindly donated to me to get a grasp of the parking situation, we had almost the entire industrial estate.

Looks like it was a real success and the feedback I've had from mates who got there has been excellent. Let's hope this one happens again soon then!

Just to answer this, they weren't supposed to be open, but opened up for the event and I'm sure they thought doing the tour in groups would be easier to manage, and fair play to them, it would've cost quite a bit to staff an event like this on a Sunday as well.

I very much enjoyed the event and luckily had a reserved spot!!

It has to be said, who was the tit in the Lambo Gallardo???

Its tools like this that will stop the event due to complaints of noise. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of an engine the same as anyone else, so rev it once, but this guy really did made himself look a right plonker!!!

Agree on the exit, it seemed only inevitable that someone at some stage would bin it. I think the police calmed a few down!!!

Used to be a regular at QS but no longer bother with my old car as the event now seems to be dominated by modern, high value Audis, BMW's Merc's, modern car clubs etc. Had to meet someone there yesterday (parked my modern half a mile away) and noticed 2 police camera vans and a police car parked in side roads as I walked to the Square. Friend and I witnessed the departure of the plethora of moderns on wet, cobbled road: is it now the norm for these owners to stop their cars at the exit of Square and then accelerate as fast as they can down Queen Charlotte St towards Baldwin St?

The police speed trap by the University Student Building opposite Crow Lane, must have had a field day! As I was about to leave, I was asked by a chap who had cycled his bike into Bristol, where the classic car meet was. ............................
