In Sodbury we have an annual classic car run in June, organized by Rotary Club I think. Very popular and well attended.
Not sure a regular monthly meet would be practical as parking on the chippings would be difficult as plenty of residents and locals park there.

Somebody once tried to set up a meet at the Lysley pub in Pewsham, Wiltshire, but I haven't seen a lot about it since the first one.

What about one at Atwell Motor Museum in Calne, although I realise that it's not very Costwold-centered.

I would agree with the previous posts in that the event is becoming a bit too focussed towards high end new machinery. One of the joys of this event was seeing what turned up on any given Sunday, anything from Hillman Avengers and Mk. 1 & 2 Cortinas through classic Lancias, Citroens and Alfas to a Ferrari Dino and a Bugatti T34! Maybe the solution is to organise an alternative event, either in the Square on the 1st Sunday of the month as someone has suggested or an another out of town venue (Aston Dealership out at Cribbs?)

Its a shame all the idiots have spoilt it i used to go every month but now i havent bin in a year as who wants to go and see a vw golf or a fiesta or mx 5 when you got a nice car you dont need to drive it like a fool as you got nothing to prove. The true cars are pushed out its a shame =[ bring back the old days. =[

Any interest in a potential Classic Car meet in Ewen, just outside Cirencester?

It's a nice drive so yes! Great idea. Monthly or bi-monthly would work.

Will my Noddy car be allowed to park nearby? biggrin

I'd be interested in that. Very local to me, too.

Ewen would be great. Presumably my Lime green maxed up Focus will be welcome...

Seriously, yes. I'll bring my old Rover!

I just replied to your email saying I had no clue what it was about Rich as I had not yet read this! Oops!!

Yes I would be up for it and I'm sure I could drag along a few mates too, but.... we don't drive classics, we drive kits and the like. We were attendees at the ADC Queen Square meet a long time before all the new tin top stuff turned up though - would we be welcome? We tend to be mostly middle aged men and very sensible! (God I hate saying that about myself!!!)

Classics in Queen Square 1st Sunday of the month anyone?
Nice thought, be good if a minimum age could be the theme but would probably end up like it is on the 2nd

1st Sunday of the month classics, 2nd Sunday can continue along the current path. Location is great.

It's an idea that has been mentioned in the past Chris but.... it's a public place, how would anyone stop any type of car just turning up? You can't legally prevent them from entering the Square.

I don't think anyone means to stop people from entering the square for a second, that would indeed be an unreasonable suggestion.
It would just be an alternative for the the people who have voiced concerns on this forum and others.
There seem to be some positive ideas floating around.

Great idea in theory but fir the locals getting cars 2 weekends a month will be maybe to much and put more pressure from the authorities on the meet.

Maybe another location for the second Sunday meet that can take a lot more cars and let the classics have the same weekend in the square , that way the meet can grow for the masses and the gents who started it can just cary on . I'm not local so not best versed to think of a second location but for sure something needs to be done before the authorities stop the meet and we loose the continuity . Any old airfields locally ? Driven past westonzoyland , any good ?? Cheddar gorge, great but I guess cars aren't liked , maybe those local can suggest venues

Hi Why not come and join us at the Weighbridge at Minchinhampton, we had a very civilised meet yesterday, bacon sandwiches and tea for breakfast plus some great cars !

First timer yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed it. Decent turnout considering time of year and weather too.
