Video from yesterday, unfortunately I forgot to take my camera batteries off charge so the whole thing was filmed on a GoPro!

Nice video. Once again, classics a bit thin on the ground though.

In other news, the usual idiocy on leaving the event.

Posted on line with the registrations clearly visible , people are stupid if they think people aren't going to get police attention at some point. It won't take a resident long to find these vids and mention them to the police or probably worse the council and that will give the police little option but to act and then they will start on anything else they can find wrong , illegal plates is the obvious, a mobile envisions test won't be nice for some

Mr Fox, some advice please if that's ok? I have an old GoPro (the original one I think) A lot of my mates use them for track days and our kit car blats out into the sticks. Personally I don't rate mine. I know it's old but I'm not sure the newer versions are any good either!

What do you use? Would it be any good to mount to a roll bar for track day work and what is the sound quality like as that is where I feel the GoPro falls down flat on it's face tbh!

Can anyone else recommend a good track day action camera alternative to the GoPro please??

I will also post this as a new topic I think so as not to detract from this thread. Here is the link so please reply there!!....... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Original GoPro was very much a proof of concept/creating a market type product, current GoPro/Similar competitors are often used for TV and even Film production, and are very powerful tools.

I'm all for berating the morons who rag it about and almost crash but that video was beyond dull and barely any of those cars really went for it or looked overly dangerous.

The odd little bit of first gear acceleration and noise is fine as far as I'm concerned. The chavvy prick trying so hard to look cool in his white RS3 and doing full bore launch starts right up through 2nd gear is an idiot, but most looked pretty sensible to me - more so than last time anyway.

We actually spoke to the Police this time and asked why they dont actually sit on the corner. They replied that they had a police car further down the road. My argument was ok, so you might catch some people that way, but surely it is better to prevent it from the off? I think if there was simply a police presence on the corner (seeing as they come down to the event every month now) it would surely stop the people taking it too far.

None the less I was pleased with the variety of cars. I know people want to see more classics but I am a fan of the variety!

My classic does not come out on wet roads. You should see a lot more as the year unfolds.

isn't part of loving cars the noise and smell? barely any of those people did anything awful. What laws are they breaking?

and what is meant by "classics"?? should there be rules to car meets now?

Yes it is. but......

That depends on your point of view, the local residents definitely disagree! Was anyone else there the day that lady was stopping every car entering the Square and asking us to go do our thing somewhere else?!!! I thought for a fleeting moment 'blimey, she's working early on a Sunday morning, or else she's not clocked off from her shift on the Saturday night and looking for a few late punters' then I realised why she was actually there!!!

Not really relevant if you are the local council, they don't need laws to shut the thing down, just an excuse that's all!!

Yes, good behaviour before it all gets stopped for the reasons above!!!

what can the council do? stop people parking legally?

surely only the police can disperse under ASB rules?

i live nr and football pitch and every other sunday parking is a little bit of an annoyance

same with people who live near schools

just playing devils advocate, seems as though residents need to complain to car manufacturers for the noise of their vehicles?

my neighbour has a gym in his garage where he huffs and humps and plays dance music then gets out his V8 and gives it a rev

what next though?? no one can cut their grass too loudly or use any petrol strimmers?

how long does it take to empty queens square? 30mins?

what do the local businesses think? the shops, cafes and bars?

We hear what you are saying but unfortunately in the real world they will just shut it down if nuisance behaviour (as they see it) continues, and btw 95% are not parked legally! They park on the kerbs, on pavements, on yellow lines and I may be wrong but I believe you still have to pay and display there even on Sundays? Does anyone do that? I don't!

I hope it continues as I love the meet but you know what NIMBYs are like!!!

The way some drivers leave the Square could very easily be interpreted by the Police as 'dangerous driving' or 'driving without due care and attention' They can pretty much define that as they like it seems these days.

Anyway, long may it continue in whatever format!!

If the council want to stop it they will have a way for sure, temporary road closures, temporary suspension of parking, and Im sure loads of other things, its better to be responsible, encourage the Police to attend, people to politely tell any idiots "please don't do it" ie be considerate to the locals or it will get stopped at some point I fear. If it can be demonstrated its no worse than it has been for years that's the best way. Yes the local cafes like the trade but Im guessing many of their regulars are the residents & bring more money in a month than us in a day.

Another off the wall idea, why not make it a charity event and allow charities to make a collection, invite a different charity each month & rotate them around & specific charities to coincide with certain dates, ie British Legion for November , Marie Curie for March , would only need a few charities, they could provide volunteers with buckets & would look good as a PR idea if the council winge

Any interest in a potential Classic Car meet in Ewen, just outside Cirencester?
Any news on this yet? I have just been asked about it on our kit car forum.

I am sure a good event like this would be popular what with the demise of 'classics' at the Queen Square monthly meet etc.
