Fantastic turnout and thanks to the authorities for letting everyone park on double yellows BUT I can see this event being banned/parking warden enforcement if people are not more considerate when blocking another car in:
A lovely 'older' lady was walking round for at least an hour trying to find the owner of a car that had blocked her in when she wanted to leave at 9.50 am.
A few people had left notes with mobiles in case of needing to move but when a 'normal/resident?' car is obstructed without any method of contacting the owner this is bad form...
As you were.

Seconded...
Been attending this on and off for a couple of years now and yesterday was by the far the busiest and could say, successful. That said however I did wonder if its going to be a victim of its own success...
IMO yesterday was just too busy, to the point you couldn't stop to look at anything for the continued flow of more cars entering and circling the square. Added to the blocked cars, the council had sent some guys on task to empty bins/street clean in the square no doubt made more difficult by the volume of cars, people and obstructions. Only got to do that a couple of times and Red Trousers will be bringing his iron fist down on the Square at the weekends.

Mr Mayor is aware of the Avenue Car Club already from what i have been told, and the police don't mind as long as the emergency services aren't blocked. Nearly all the police that have turned up over the last six months are only coming to look at the cars anyway
I've been a regular attender since 2010, the growth over the last year has been fantastic, the quality and diversity of the vehicles attending is brilliant, was stunned at the turnout on Sunday, but do wonder if it will become a victim of its success as well.

Completely agree, the turnout of cars was amazing, but unfortunately some of the parking was poor. There isn't really an excuse to block people in unless you know them personally and the way that some cars left the Square could have easily attracted unwanted attention. At its peak, it was also getting tricky for some "non event" people to actually get down the roads.I know it all sounds a bit preachy, but sadly it will only take one or two people to complain to the Council/Police for this gathering to be stopped and that would be a huge shame. The high profile nature of the location means that we all have to put on our Sunday best and adjust the halos.

Yes what a fantastic turn out just a brill way to spend a Sunday morning and the breakfast I had in one of the cafes was just superb.
Back in 2010 on a dry but cold December there was me on a lambretta and just a couple of other cars ! How things have changed. As for being a victim of its own success lets hope not. As the year progresses people and their cars may well attend different events which could keep numbers down. That said if people are driving 100 + miles to attend who knows what will happen.
