Great turn out this morning and the more the better but I think it has now outgrown the square
I'd tend to agree! Bonkers.

Too busy for me now. frown
Got there early to get a decent spot, but by 09.30 someone had parked in front blocking me in. Double parking, parking on pavements, double yellows - ridiculous. There are plenty of side streets and car parks in the area for those who don't get there early enough to grab a legitimate spot.

Well this month I arrived at 8:15, which is ridiculously early for me, and the square was starting to fill up even then. Last month I was held up, didn't get there till 9, and got the last space (on the pavement next to the police car!). Would never have managed that this month.

I quite agree that the event has now outgrown Queen Square and really needs to move somewhere else before Mr Red Trousers outlaws it completely. I'd suggest Circular Road on the Downs - the one that goes round the top of the Sea Walls. Lots of open spaces, nice views of the Avon Gorge and the Clifton Suspension Bridge ... and an ice cream van.

The Downs would be a great place or better still Ashton Court outside the Main house , but I dont see the red trouser man allowing that to happenfrown

I've been meaning to pop down to this for age, but never got round to it. Arrived at around 10am and couldn't believe how busy it was! Absolutely insane and amazing to have such a varied meet in Bristol.
I managed to get a decent spot as soon as I arrived due to someone leaving - perfect!
I can't imagine it being allowed to continue there for long though and agree a new location being found before the square becomes conveniently closed on Sundays would be great.
Here's a few pics..

I needed to be off by 1030, so took what turned out to be a wise decision and parked on a side street

Great meet as ever though

Is there a food event on Queen Square the first 2 weekends of May...... if so will be chaotic . On the local news this evening I thought it was said it would be for 18 days

The food weekend has coincided with the food event in the past, however this was when the turn out for the QS Meet was a lot less.

That said however, IIRC the timings didnt overlap so there was no problem...given the recent larger turn outs it may be a different story this year.

I'm keeping well away... too manic and its lost its relaxed atmosphere!

It does seem a bit too busy now. Perhaps I shall wait until the weather gets worse?

Should we go for the Downs by the wall overlooking the Avon end of Ladies Mile in May?

Hi,

Can I very politely remind anyone who goes to Queens Square that there's a nice, FREE, large private event on Sunday 18th May just to the west of Bristol at the Downs School, Wraxall BS48 1PF.

It's called Caring with Cars, and we'd love it if you could come along.

So far there are over 450 cars and bikes attending, including drag cars/bikes, race and rally cars, supercars and everything else you expect at a PH meet, but with a big raffle of prizes to be won, expert speakers giving talks, live music, kids activities - all in all, a nice day out in picturesque grounds.

You may already know about it, but if not, here's the PH thread:

YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR FREE, HERE:

Cheers,

There are a number of road closures in Bristol on Sunday due to the 10K.

I tihnk Prince Street will be closed, along with the Portway, Cumberland Road, College Green etc. Most of the roads are shut from 6am through to lunchtime.

Yep. Didn't realise it was Queen Square weekend- my advice would strongly be to give it a miss as he road closures are extensive!

Several of us Porsche owners are going the Shelsley Walsh breakfast meeting just north of Worcester as an alternative.

Is one permitted to attend if one does not drive a Porsche?

Does that mean the Queen's Sq meet is off or is it just going to be a bit more challenging to get to?
