Anyone coming from Oxford direction?

burty124 in the Bitter SC has asked if there's anyone to convoy down with.
I'm coming from Reading along the M4 so he could catch up with me at junction 13.
Steve - I'll give him your email address if that's alright?
Graham,

No problem

Steve
Is it still your hotmail account from last year?

Graham's patronising de-brief

Hi all,

That was one hell of a Cheddar meet with a superb array of machines in attendance. Every PH member should be congratulated for making the time and bringing their car for the interest of others, and I want to personally thank everyone for coming along - particularly Mike and Claire in the Duesenberg.

It is, however, perhaps the last of its kind - a victim of its own success at a venue that is already popular with the general public, made worse by the gorgeous weather we experienced.

I was informed by the manager of the Gorge that Pistonheads meetings are now unwelcome in the Gorge and we would be moved on by the police if we hold an event there again.

This was due to:

  • dangerous driving in and around the gorge
  • the traffic obstruction, particularly of their tour bus, and long queues
I have sent a detailed message to him outlining my - I think justified - position that various non-Pistonhead (and perhaps a few of our own) cars that were in the gorge on Sunday have, by their poor actions, tarred the vast majority of our responsible members unfairly.

I'm not holding my breath but, even if we are still unable to hold even small meetings in the gorge, I think it is worth attempting to repair the name of Pistonheads - particularly if we are not responsible for its soiling!

I'll let you know if I get any news.

Thanks again!

What was everyone's Car of the Meet?

I have some bottles of white wine to use up that were going to be prizes for the sound test, so why don't we choose the top 3 by voting? After a few days I'll tot up the scores and I will send a bottle to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

So, what was your Car of the Meet?

Does anyone know who the 6R4 is? Sandy deduced he was at the Weston airfield rally the other month, so he must be local and I assume heard about Cheddar from other PHers.

PS. 'Course you can't vote for your own car!

Bugger, never thought of that...
