Replaced our Golf GTI DSG daily driver, with this, BMW M135i with the sports auto 8 speed gearbox.
All I can say is wow! This car is amazing, I reckon it's a fair bit quicker than my Cayman S, it's seriously quick. It's certainly a lot easier to drive quickly. That gearbox is absolutely fantastic as well. I can't believe how good this car is, and they're relative bargains for the performance they offer.
Ours is a nice spec, 3 door, sports auto transmission with paddles, adaptive M suspension (which is a really nice option on these crappy roads!), LED lighting pack, heated leather seats, sunroof etc...
No remaps on the agenda just yet, although 400hp is tempting!
I got one of these last summer and to be honest, i much prefer it to the E92 M3 i traded in for it. All I can say is wow! I have owned an E36 M3, E39 M5 + the E92 M3 and i think its better than all of them for what you really want from a car day to day. It feels nippy and light and bang up to date tech wise.
Its pretty much a hot hatch but with a very revvy, lightweight feeling straight 6.
I think you must love yours as much as I do mine. I can't imagine getting rid of it in anything less than 5 years or so.
Ive just bought an M Performance exhaust which I would throughly recommend too. I can only see myself fitting an LSD as the next improvement but to be honest thats probably about it - but like you, a JB4 may be the next step at some point.
Yours is a top colour too!

I read that they make a lot more power than advertised by BMW, they're also a fair bit quicker than BMW say. Something to do with BMW wanting to keep it below the performance of the M3 (although I take everything I read online with a pinch of salt!) In reality they're very similar in performance. I've seen many dyno graphs putting the M135i at over 340hp as standard.
You're right about the lightweight hot hatch handling. They really are fun to throw around and inspire a lot of confidence. I actually really like the servotronic steering, it works really well. It's a joy to drive around town in comfort mode, and incredible to blast around B roads in Sport mode!
I don't think there's much I'd rather have. It's a difficult decision when my girlfriend asks if I'd rather than the Porsche or the BMW out!
If you're out of warranty and don't fancy a JB4 etc then I used Emaps previously to remap my 535d. They are well respected in the BMW world and came to my house to flash the Ecu. Looking a their website i see they now work on the 135i.
http://www.e-maps.co.uk/products/BMW/1+Series+%28F...
From what I remember it was about £300 for one car or £275 for 2 or more done at the same location.

We're still in BMW warranty at the moment. Still considering whether it's worth extending the BMW when the time comes.
Well 2 weeks ago i finally picked up my new ride....2004 E46 M3 - lovely car....& much nicer than my mk5 Gti..
I've been using it as a daily drive (50 mile commute) & i have to say i love it, it looks good, sounds good & goes like stink when required......
I've been looking for a silver manual with black leather for some time & a dealer friend had this come in & i couldn't resist..
I'm well chuffed & looking forward to a trip to the Black Forest & the Alps later in the year..!!

Few saw this the other night, but with the 4200 CC gone, here is the replacement...
And in 2 weeks of ownership I've fitted spacers, carbon rear trunk spoiler, carbon mirrors and as of this weekend the new Larini X-Pipe will be going on. Who can resist a nice bit of carbon hey?
