Yeah but MX5s, as fun as they are, are slow wink

EDIT...

You mean you actually drive the thing about sometimes? biggrin
Depends.. I owned one a while ago and whilst it would never out run the dreary BMW/Audi/Merc straight line heros, it had a very balanced chassis and loads of mechanical grip. When driven properly I never wanted more grip or power, the fact I was on a public road was the most limiting factor. In that sense, it's not really that much slower than any other car.

Wish I had taken mine on track but boring adult stuff got in the way.
No doubt they're great handling cars, very well balanced indeed.
I had a play with a fella in one a month back. He was driving it very well indeed and my old boat couldn't get near him in the swisties but any ground I lost, I made up very quickly (2nd gear in a tuned police-spec V70 will dispatch most motors with little fuss).

If I wasn't such a large unit I wouldn't mind a small B-road hoonigan but I'd look silly in one haha.

Red VXR-8, A326 past Morrisons. It had Holden badges and graphics. Possibly the loudest V8 I've ever heard. It would've made my C63 sound a bit tame.
He was at the Vauxhall event at Beaulieu. As he left we could hear him for ages. He gave it death at every junction and opportunity.

Ferrari 458 Speciale on the M3/M27 - number plate J458.

Sounded good - apparently has been seen around Winchester way too.

Could that be a Jersey registered car?

That 5-pot roar and the sharp kick up the arse is far too addictive to have a "leisurely drive" wink

I really struggle to behave myself these days. At least I grew out of humiliating chavs in saxos and noisy golfs, it was costing me a fortune in fuel haha.

I was expecting it to be speed related. There's stereotyping for you. hehe hope you got it all sorted. Pretty sure they took off after you around Basingstoke, unless it was a separate set of blue lights rushing away. Seems unlikely though.

If it was red he might have been at the meet at West Meon.

Oh dear. Although we're not friends on FB, a friend of mine had commented on the photo you'd posted and for some reason it displayed on my timeline.

I saw your car at the Meon, it looks stunning. I hope you got it sorted, don't they usually tow your car away if it's uninsured?

R005TRS - black BMW 5 series new shape being driven very badly up the M3 near Winchester this morning. Zooming up behind people flashing his lights, tailgating aggressively etc... Thank you for making a lot of people's commute more stressful than it need have been mad

On a more interesting note I saw a pretty scary looking matt black Marauder on the back of a low loader at the top of the M3 (huge 4wd thing made in South Africa from memory and featured on TG a while back...)
