I tried to do this. Last day before the hosepipe ban, Mum's done last week, mine, my mates MINI and Dad's needed doing. We got them clean, but not without hassle from the rain, in the end we just finished as it went dark and the heavens opened.
The MINI came with a cleaning kit so finally managed to get right into the wheels on all three, got them aas clean as possible, then gave the 207 a 'Quickwax' and glass polish the next morning once it had dried. At some point I will properly wax it again and I will get the wheels off and do them, as it is at the moment, I need more microfibre cloths!
Those wheels must look fantastic all cleaned up inside, I'd imagine they're still fairly doable whilst on the car with such thin spokes, I had what must have been barely a week old E93 next to me in town the other day with those wheels, they look the dogs.
Didn't do too bad of a job considering...

Mine needs a bloody good clean.
It's covered in tar, dirt, sticker sticky stuff.
The carbon fibres faded, I think waters got into it.
The Allys bubbled in places, the fibreglass has a few spider cracks, and it needs a good going over with a touch up pen.
Never been polished in it's life, but that could be because I don't own any.
I did buy a clay bar once, never really knew what it was all about and didn't get far with it.
Always been tempted to buy a machine polisher and maybe make it shine.
Any takers!
Oh and the wheels are covered in brake dust, can't seem to get it off. Also the garage fitting the weights wrong and they got ripped off. Need a refurb me thinks.
As you were.
"wheels covered in brake dust" forget Wonder Wheels, Autoglym etc go to your local hardware store and get some spirit of salts, about £2 per litre. Spray on and watch the crap turn green, agitate and sponge off with plenty of water!! try not to use on hot wheels, cool off with water first!!It's covered in tar, dirt, sticker sticky stuff.

Looking good Jimbo. You've reminded me I've been meaning to get rid of all the crud on the inside of my wheels. Did you just clay bar them to get the old tar/brake dust off?
Shampoo clean, wonder wheels, clay bar, Poorboys wheel sealant, Meg Gold Class wax. Job done! Gassing Station | South Coast | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
