I can get a Dover to Calais return crossing for £90 (car plus 2 passengers), that's out around 09:00 on the Thursday and back around 16:00 on the Monday through the CSMA, so about £170 cheaper than the Pompey/Cherbourg route and 90 minute crossing time.

Priority boarding/disembarkation is £12 each way or £30 each way per group for that plus club lounge with complimentary drinks and stuff.

I'm easy either way to be honest, whatever fits in with other peoples plans/budgets.

Could be tempted by the Dover option for the saving, further in the car but thats not a bad thing!

Sooner somebody can make a crossing decision the better. It'll book up quick and get expensive quick.

Only problem with that Steph is the drive from here to Dover and the extra mileage from Calais to Le Mans (more importantly the drive from Dover home on the Monday). You will also miss the run up through France on Monday with the rest of the TL guys which is usually a fun part of the trip

Yes I've been considering both the extra distance to Dover and the actual drive experience too, like I said I'm happy to go with the flow and listen to you experienced guys!

Your dad not going then? Me and Kirstys bro could jump in with you if you can't fill the space. I'm not overly worried if mine goes or not

He's not commited himself yet so i can only assume he'd decline later on. He's got a lot going on next year with probable leaving of the Navy and new job on the way. You guys would be more than welcome. Would we still need 2 pitches or just 1?

Could prob get away with one, I think Matt might might have a tent a touch bigger than yours to all bundle into

So what are people's thoughts then on the ferry, just had another look.

Dover to Calais on the ferry is currently £114 return

Portsmouth to Cherbourg is £278 return?

Obviously Portsmouth is convenient but that is a huge difference?

About £40 then. Is that each way? Would probably work out about £200 extra in the M5 inc the trip to dover etc but im not that bothered if its a good run.

When I went to the Classic this year I had to meet the guys from the RAOC who were all London based so we went via the tunnel it was a bit strange as I kept seeing cars heading for Portsmouth and there I was going the other way must admit the tunnel isn't bad and lets face it the journey to LeMans is all part of the event so I didn't mind the extra miles. The roads down were good though despite the tolls.

After a LM13 discussion at Nick's race meet yesterday, seems no firm arrangements have been made.

Personally will be looking at either

Newhaven 10:00out thurs - Dieppe 18:00return mon or
Poole 08:30out thurs - Cherbourg 18:45return mon.

Passenger seat may become available!
Accomodation:
TeamLang via Viper crew (£450/car??)
or LM hotel/ b&b

other's plans?

Pete

Quite a few of us have reserved spaces with Adam for the TL site. No ferrys booked yet and I think most will just sort their own out based on budget/locations etc. I personally am still looking at Portsmouth to Cherbourg outbound on th Thurs morning and returning Monday afternoon on the same route.

Eddie and Nick will probably be doing Poole. To be honest we will probably just end up all meeting down there. Should be a decent size PH contingent on the site either way.

Be good to have you along.

Jim
