Got an email today from Brittany Ferries claiming 20% off there crossings next year. Went online and called them and it is only for a full holiday booked through them, not crossings only. I asked if the prices for June would come down and she said that as it was Le Mans weekend the prices would stay at the extortionate price they currently are.

So your looking at £298 return from Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the fastish cat and £94 return for the tunnel.

Difficult decision. Its about 100miles each way extra from Calais plus the mileage this side to get to Dover.

Don't forget that the road out from the tunnel is a toll road as well, can't remember what I paid but it was quite dear but it is a lovely road apart from the French tailgaiters of course.

It has to be boat for me as I can't use the tunnel with LPG fitted but I know the ferry from Dover was a lot cheaper than Portsmouth.

We have always gone Dover to Calais, it worked out cheaper in fuel to do the extra miles and cost us about £30 last year for a return ferry

FERRY BOOKED

SO I have bitten the bullet and got on an booked a ferry. Going to go from Dover to Calais as I cant bring myself to pay £300 to go from Portsmouth. We are going with P&O and will just have to swallow the extra fuel and tolls!! Opted out of the tunnel as I quite like the opportunity for a coffee and break onboard. Details of our crossing are below and it cost £105 return. Hopefully some of you guys will be up for the same one for a road trip down.

Departure Date/Time: Thu 20 June 2013 at 0925
Arrival Date/Time: Thu 20 June 2013 at 1155
Ship Name: Spirit of France
Duration: 1hr 30min

Departure Date/Time: Mon 24 June 2013 at 1755
Arrival Date/Time: Mon 24 June 2013 at 1825
Ship Name: Pride of Ron Burgundy

Passengers: 2 Hench Adults
Transport: Car, HN55EKL - BMW 535 mega diesel remapped

Gonna book my Poole to Cherb ticket at xmas for the same dates. Looks like we'll just have to meet up there, or somewhere on the route down.

Blue permit is already packed. The only reason we are taking a Range is so I can fit my Top Gear style off road mobility scooter in the back!! It has a special beer fridge for special people!!

Now just need Gruffnutt, Luke, Darren etc to get sorted and we got ourselves a convoy!!

Need to think of some team stickers for the rear windows!

Will speak to Luke over the weekend and get ours sorted. Got 6 of my mates joining in a GTR, Cooper S, and possibly a Boxster. Can't bloody wait!
