Evening All,

Considering moving to Brighton soon. Have to come to London a few days a week for meetings, normally i organise these for mid to late morning so I miss the morning Rush.

I'm allergic to public transport. Wondered how practical it is to drive back and forth on a week day.

I've done the journey a few times in the past, but wondered if anyone does it regularly, what the traffic like / journey times?

Thanks in advance,

HBT

Frequently drive but not regular, or by choice!

It really does depend where you are heading in London. South Croydon? Easy-Peasy. Tower Bridge? Not so.

Obvious points:
- M23 roadworks at Gatwick. Next 8 weeks and this morning (for example) there were 5 mile tailbacks at 6:30am.
- A23 is the shortest distance but a horrible single carriageway route (once past Croydon).
- Best route for City is around M25 to M2/A2 and through Blackwall tunnel. This is always a mess, and stationary traffic should be expected.

For me, Hove->Tower Bridge leaving at 06:30 gets me there at 08:00 assuming Friday traffic levels and no major hold-ups (this is via M23, M25, A2). Add another 30/40 minutes if its a Monday or you have the current M23 roadworks.

Where possible get the train. I do.

Completely agree. Either get up before dawn and leave at 9pm or get the train. Even during holidays it's hellish and it's made worse by the fact that you make great progress, then hell, make progress, then hell, make progress, then...you get the idea.
