Roadworks A31, Bere Regis - Red Post

Kind of on the cusp of South Coast and South West really....

Does anyone know what the roadworks alongside the bumpy bit of the A31 from Red Post towards Bere Regis are about?

There's that bit of land that was bought years ago to widen it on the north side, which is now being enthusiastically dug up and levelled.

I thought they were just laying a pipeline in there but it's starting to look like a road project, yet there's no signage and nothing on the internet.

Glad you raised that query. I drove that road this afternoon, and wondered the same. I think it's a road project (just over a mile long, looks as if it is being turned into dual-carriageway). But does anyone out there know more?
