Reason I posted is because I watched a video that featured a yellow T5 pulled over / broken down / crashed at the ring.

There's a lot of yellow (Gul if we're being picky) volvos about - many of them tuned.
The colour attracts more money on the market as it's the release colour for the T5-R, but it's not as rare as people think and the likelihood of it being the peril you saw is slim when you consider how many there are about.
