Nothing fancy, just need one to take with me to a couple of track days per year. I'll only use it in a car, but it's an open top if that makes a difference? Any shops people would recommend?

I live near Fareham.

Cheers!

Try the bike shop by Aldi... Rafferty and Newman I think
They should have one fairly cheap
Trevor pope in Gosport or any of the motorbike shops should be able to help, as it won't need to be car specific and you can always remove the visor if not required.

Depending on if you are going to progress from track days to sprints etc, you will need a car crash helmet as bike ones aren't allowed as the lining is not fire proof.

Just track days planned. I don't really have the budget or spare time to get more heavily involved.

I take it a cheap bike helmet would be OK for a car track day then? Bearing in mind I'm in a road car, with airbags, no roll cage etc. I don't really intend to take it up seriously, just a few days a year when I get the chance. I've paid £20 a time for helmet hire on the days I've done so far so I'm sure I'd make my money back quickly.

I am not 100% sure re type of helmet but I am looking to do hill climbs and being told it has to be a car and not a bike helmet, so worth checking before you buy. Car ones are not that much more if you go with a standard helmet. Try this link as I asked a similar question on a different thread.
