One of my contacts through work, a stone dealer to be precise, mentioned the other day that he runs a fishing experience at one of the most sought after salmon locations in Alaska. He's offered me a buy 2 get a 3rd free slot in one of the lodges as I've come through the trade. I'm not suggesting that I get 2 of you to pay so I can go free, more like we can split the cost of 2 between 3 of us.

If anyone is keen to do this let me know. It's not cheap. The experience per person is usually $4900usd plus your flight out there. I think the rest is included. Split 2 of those between 3 of us and it is a decent saving. Best dates are in July so we'd need to move quickly if you fancy it.

Other activities include seaplane rides and animal watching / photography. Maybe some hunting but that's not what i'm interested in. The area has a huge abundance of wildlife and the biggest brown bear population in the world. Fishing goes from the massive runs of salmon (little Chum through to the mighty King), through amazing trout and grayling fishing and also some really good pike sport.

I'll probably go anyway but the offer is there,

Pretty much as above. If we can get a party of 3 together we can make the above cost circa $3270 each instead of $4999 each. Flights are coming in at £1200 and upwards currently, that is in addition to the above $3270. It's very much a bucket list experience so a high outgoing is to be expected.

If you're up for it send me an email and we'll see if we can rope another in.

I would love to do this but it's far to expensive for me!

I did just this when I was 16. Did a six week trekking tour of Alaska with about 10 lads from school and we got lucky with one of our guides and had a couple of hours fishing a salmon hotspot for nothing!

If you go, you will not be disappointed! Absolutely incredible experience to see it and if you time it right, you will have a good chance of watching bears pulling fish out of the water too. I'm feeling jealous already - enjoy!
