If you use FREEST4 the strip and refit will be FOC - I think it lasts for the month of April.

That said I'm a bit cheesed off with them. Dropped a car off yesterday to have the wheels on it and the 4 in the luggage compartment refurbed. All was promised for close of play today. Went back at close of play today to collect it and none of the wheels had been painted, much less had the tyres refitted. The irony is that when I dropped the car off yesterday I very explicitly said "you have my number - in the unlikely event of any issues give me a bell otherwise I will see you at 5 tomorrow". OK, so they run behind and take on more work than they can finish in a day. I get that but do question WTF is the point of a booking system. But then they can't find the time for a 30 second phone call???? They must have known fairly early in the day they weren't going to get to everything.

OK. I feel slightly better now. But still p*ss poor customer service.

By way of an apology they waxed the 3rd set of wheels and gave me a bottle of wheel wax.

I think they have bit of a capacity issue. Dropped mine off and thanks to the heads up in this thread ensured that I chased a couple of times through the day. Was told they would be ready late. I am sure if I hadn't chased i would have arrived and they wouldn't have been ready that day and nobody would have contacted me. Having said that still got a great job done and they all stayed on til 6 until they were finished. People were booking when I was there and they were booking 2-3 weeks out so clearly busy.

Well I got a call and picked them up last night, they were very apologetic it had taken longer than expected but as they look great I'm not complaining.

Which branch is this you’re all talking about? TWS are franchises, so experiences may vary depending on which one you visit!

Are they still covering the entire wheel with powder coating? By completely enveloping the wheel they can provide the warranty that they do.
I had a set done here and I had issues with the fact the hub face and radius bolt seat were coated with a full depth powder coat. I did advise that I would be tracking the car, however, the coating melted in both of these places part way through the day. There are conflicting schools of thought regarding this but I can say that all the advice I received from qualified specialists was that this could have been bad news should the worst have happened.

I started a thread a few years ago about this which got quite fractious, so I've no desire to do the same again. It was clear however that many experts agreed that this can be poor practice. Conversely there are many who believe that this is nothing to worry about.

As always, up to the individual. But it might be useful to consider this in case you feel it's an issue for you.

Essentially a recent thread on here was started by someone who had used the WS and had a less than favourable experience. I think the link posted a few posts up was meant to be to that thread but I think it's the wrong link, hence your confusion.

In summary you might want to think twice about using WS, instead using the people Doorman suggested above.

Thanks a lot... sorry for the slight confusion but Southampton is a bit of a trek from the back end of Somerset!

I wouldn’t go anywhere near the Wheel Specialist again after my experience.

I still have issues and I’m now aware of others with the same recently. Very dodgy outfit they run, awful customer service and finish on the wheels is terrible, despite being done twice.

The Wheel Specialist is a franchise, so every site will go about things in different ways.

We recommend Tony @ the Weston-s-Mare branch to every client looking for a refurb/recolour etc and have only ever had positive feedback.

Scott at Platinum Alloys in Swindon is the only other company we recommend in the SW.

Cheers,

Chris
