Will be sad if this goes, as its just getting establised, and finding its feet as a proper event.

It's a huge shame - think it could have been a great event if given longer to establish itself on the calendar.

However, with the Airshow as well in quick succession I can appreciate why the costs are likely scary without a considerable backer. frown

Meh, it wasn't that great. The first year was promising but the attitude of the general public to the cars on show was appalling - adults trying to open car doors, kids sitting on bonnets, etc.

Since the first year with the bike jump over the pier, it's all been a bit samey. There's only so many times you can get interested about a monster truck hooning around on the beach while charging people £10 for a 2 minute ride. The flotsam that congregates around it (I'm thinking overpriced burgers, dodgems, ropey looking portable thrill rides) will not be missed.

Plus the organisers had no regard for car clubs showing interesting machinery, dumping them all up at Boscombe while the more populated stretches had a bizarre collection of seemingly unrelated and uninteresting vehicles. Oh, and the 4x4 Response lot with their high-viz and 2-way radios telling everyone how they once rescued a cat from a puddle in January 2012.

There are far better events locally, never mind further afield (and I don't mean the Route 66 event which from all accounts is completely ste).

Out of interest what would you say rivals it locally - especially for free? Genuinely interested as always looking for fun stuff for our car obsessed kid.

I largely agree with all of these points, unfortunately. We took the F50 to the first and second running of Bournemouth Wheels. The first one was awesome; we had several runs in the car each day, it was parked up in Purbeck Hall overnight, crowds were massive and we felt really welcome. It had already gone downhill by the second, with less time in the car, crap course and though we were still in Purbeck, it was very samey and we felt a bit of a sideshow. I'd pretty much decided that I wasn't going to bother for 2016, before I heard we'd been moved to the boonies. It's a long way for me, consumes the whole weekend, a lot of cash and I'd rather do other stuff.

Depends on "locally". However Wilton Wake Up & Wilton Supercar show, Goodwood Breakfast Club & Goodwood Festival Of Speed, Pistonheads South Kitchen Club, Wessex Car Club Beaulieu Mega Meet, Sherbourne Castle Classic and Supercar, Poole Quay for my Car (esp. TVR night), Dunsfold Wheels and Wings, CarFest South...

Or to be honest, if we're comparing to CarFest, a trip to the new Audi garage.
