Tonight along the same part of the M3 around Basingstoke I first of all was passed by a white unmarked van that had blue lights flashing and then a Volvo with blues on possibly a V40. Prob neither of these were bib I would have thought. They went too quick for me to get any number plates in the dark.

Never a dull moment on the M3!

I was sat in the traffic on the Christchurch bypass tonight (for a change). An unmarked 5 series pulled up alongside and the guy asked me to wind my window down. His exact words were; "Buddy, that front plate is too small and you know it, back one is fine, get it sorted" he then just drove off....

I didn't even have a chance to say anything, thought it was just some random person at first haha! I got pretty lucky, especially as I had just been driving quite briskly...

There are 2 of those about. Identical cars with similar plates. Cameras in naughty places etc

I also saw the white sprinter van in convoy with a red Volvo estate moving at speed on m27 one lunchtime last week.
They both had hidden blues flashing and the sprinter was pushing on somewhat keeping up with the Volvo, didn't look comfortable in all the storms.
2 blokes in sprinter both dressed in black.
M27 east bound by Port Solent .

I saw 4 of those unmarked vans last Thursday. They were all Eastbound on the M27 around 10:30. Quite an odd sight I must say.

Only reading "Hitler, what a nice chap!" would be more bewildering!

I'm sorry but laws relating to this are ridiculous. i'll just take it off completely and endure the lesser £30 FPN.

the lettering is of normal size and it's properly spaced.

The standard plate on my car is far too big!!

Don't blame you, coming out of Japfest many years ago I joined what I thought was a traffic queue it was in fact old bill busting owners for number plate infringements. For some strange reason they waved me on?

That looks fine IMO, perfectly legible and legally spaced, I dont understand why the surrounding area around the lettering needs to be so big?!

Also, if you look at the new 4 Dot plates they're smaller than the one on the front of my car but with a fancy surround and they're deemed as legal.

I had to Google fourdot. No idea how those are deemed legal if they are. In addition, they look like the sort of thing a desi chav from Southall might put on his Range Rover. Ugh!

There was some debate at the time about Jap imports with fixed number plate mouldings if I had more numbers and letters it would have looked a bit silly.
I guess ultimately its whether you want hassle from old bill, I suppose in some ways it was decent of the guy to just tell you rather than bust you.

Traffic are still running a 57 plate Focus ST around Bournemouth. Seen last at the Airshow, seen twice this week tooling around Old Christchurch Road and Branksome...
i've seen this & followed it a couple of times heading home on the Wimborne - Cranborne road - always keeps around the limit & heads right towards Verwood......luckily it's never come up behind me..(yet)

They aren't really that ridiculous though are they? Everyone know them and it really isn't hard to just stick to the UK standard number plate regulations. You wouldn't alter your TV serial number, I don't get the fascination or altering number plates.... Well I do, Vanity.

And they do fit on your car. Here is an example...
