Any chance of full list of all the unmarked police cars in the West Sussex constabulary with particular regard to the Horsham & Crawley area together with a 'best guess' for their likely whereabouts on any given Saturday night between the hours of 7pm and 12 midnight?

Just a thought.

Well you did say...

hehe

Seriously though - as Ironictwist said - thank you for your help.

HQ - that's all I am admitting to hehe.

Most of the unmarked RPU/ANPR cars are the same as in wristymcgrew's post in the Unmarked BIB topic:

RPU
1) Chichester, Silver Merc C320 Estate
2) Hove, Silver Merc C320 Saloon
3) Haywards Heath, Silver BMW 335i Saloon
4) Polegate, Silver BMW 530d Estate
5) Fleet spare is a White Merc C270cdi estate

ANPR Unit
Black Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattro saloon
Silver Ford Focus ST Hatch (known as the ASBO)
Navy Vauxhall Omega 3.2 Saloon (recently shagged by TFU in a firearms op and is due to be replaced by a BMW)

Some of the technology now is very sneaky beaky with new cameras being secreted in the car bodywork rather than behind the rear view mirrors. There are several other units driving in unmarked cars on blues in Sussex, but I won't disclose their details for the obvious reasons

Has the silver Evo 8 been retired now then? And I saw the ST pulling someone over on the M23 a short while back..

How long until the cameras put in on the basis of 'ANPR' are switched over to 'Road Charging'..? It's exactly the kind of thing one could envision happening. Also I heard that the 335i was an 'accident' and was actually supposed to be a 335d? Was that the case? smile

The Evos have gonefrown

The rule of thumb regarding mobile ANPR is that the unit travels and operates as a group and where you see one car/van, the others won't be far awaysmile Essentially they are deployed on operations on behalf of local divisions.

With regards to road charging - hey, anything could happen in the future.

From what i heard the BMW 335i should have been a diesel but there was an admin error - but who knows for sure?
