Hi everyone, first post on PH from me although I've been reading for some time now.

Basically this is a call for anyone interested in helping me get my Automotive Photography portfolio up to scratch. I was hoping some people with nice cars would be willing to let me shoot them in some interesting locations in return for the best of the images for no cost. I can't really offer prints I'm afraid but can do the processing work required to get them to the required standard and size of your choice.

I'm a part time photographer already but have taken the decision that I want to move more towards automotive, unfortunately I don't know anyone with such exotica as I was hoping to shoot so if you have something interesting (doesn't have to be mega bucks or brand new but does have to be a bit 'special') and want the oppurtunity of some shots of it for free then please drop me a line by reply or PM.

I'm based in Brighton but can travel within reason, ideally you could bring the car to my area though as I know the locations to shoot at but if you know some cool areas or have ideas of where to go looking then I'm happy to come to you.

If you want to see what I've done up to now please take a look here.

Thanks

Alastair

EDIT - I've stopped doing freebies now, sorry. If you want to hire me though there are plenty contact details in this thread.

looks like you missed the speed trial (no photos)! could see if anyone's coming from brighton to wickham on sunday. sure there'd be plenty of photo friendly trolleys on show and plenty of action shots to be had

Same as, but also work in central Brighton and bring the Cerb down on occassions. Always fancied a pic of my car, at dusk, at the Pier entrance smile

Only proviso is you dont take any closeups of the 'road rash' on the nose, although it does, IMO, give it that 'hard as nails/used on track' look (my excuse and Im sticking with it!)

zed, I was in Italy driving the MiTo when the speed trials were on so did miss that opportunity yes frown I'm not free this Sunday unfortunately (and thanks for the offer of a ride ironictwist) but if you wouldn't mind spreading the word to anyone roughly in the area that'd be a massive help.

Very interested in doing something with either or both of the Cerb owners though. FUBAR, have seen your car around a lot. Could you drop me a contact email address by message here or email to Agent.L.Photography AT gmail.com

With regards to the pier shot, although I would absolutely love to do it I just can't see a feasible way of getting the car(s) onto the pavement with permission and without getting a load of people in shot. Also, I'm not sure I could get my hands on enough lights to do a two car shoot any justice at the moment.

Cheers

I shall PM you my contact details Alastair.

I wondered whether an approach to the Pier management, pleading the poverty of an up and coming photographer, and a copy of the photo(s) for their own PR department as a bribe may work?

It is possible to get cars up on the pavement for a 'quickie', but a staged shot (Im no photographer, but guess this takes a while) would defo need planning and permission.

Still, plenty of other places you/we could use smile

I would have thought a dusk shot when quieter (although light will obviously start to be a problem!) would have been ace! thumbup

Or get down to the New Forest -

Dodgy surface road, plenty of bushes around as well, tucked away in the middle of nowhere! It looks like it will be dark there soon too, so it's obvious why you're there.

Looks VERY suspect Luke, explain yourself cop

Not dogging or whatever else you would have suggested... wink

Oh and I would add more pictures, but I don't want to thread hijack! biggrin

I have a Clio V6 in the Southampton area if you fancied it? Would probably have to be in the next few weeks though as I am putting it on the market soon.

Luke, don't be shy, you can add another shot or two.

Clio V6 could be very interesting. I'm not sure that I can get all the way over to Southampton for a shoot though but do send over your contact details and I'll be in touch. Is it silver?

Just didn't want to hijack your thread with a load of my pictures! smile

Out on the forest as well -

Heading towards Lyndhurst, need to get that in decent light. Lens just wasn't fast enough! frown

Out in Sussex, really like this!

Hope I didn't hijack too much!
Incase anyone is interested, those shots were all taken on an EOS 40D.
All pictures are clickable for larger sizes and details of the shots are on there! smile

They were taken in the New Forest.
Shot in the Seven was taken heading out of East Grinstead towards Tunbridge Wells. driving
