I worked all over Southampton quite 'in depth' for 6.5 years, and soley Bitterne for 5.

Let me know an area and a street name and I will give you an honest opinion.

Dont remember ever being called there but it is next to keynsham rd which is a total dump as you will have probably noticed. The main road Bitterne Road East serves as the main link between thornhill and Harefield which are both rather gross areas - thornhill more so. Mind you wherever you go there will be the nearby underclass. That particular road is fine though IIRC.

If I were to live in the area I would look to be in Bitterne Park. There is quite a large plesant bit, around Dimond Rd/Sandringham Rd (that sort of area) if you're looking to move to Bitterne.

Dito the above from Neil. Thornhill is Gods toilet. Most of Bitternes area is council estates. The worst being Weston and Thornhill. Harefield is not as bad as it used to be.

Again, the road you mentioned is not one i have ever been to whilst (working). You may find a few poor underclass using that area as a walk through from Thornhill, when they need to walk down to Bitterne town to collect my money (otherwise known as a Giro)

Thanks Neil, thanks Jim. Not been there, just seen it advertised on Rightmove. I thought it was cheap. I think that will be a no then.

When I worked in IT for the council we moved our office to Bitterne Primary School, one side of the school was nice enough and you could happily park your car there, the other side you wouldn't leave a pushbike guarded by an Angry German Shephard unattended (they'd nick both).
