You sound like you know what your talking about Paul. Your right about the 5pm traffic. We could still meet at the Shell at take that route. Sounds like a plan. smile

I'm new to Pistonheads and live in Winchester. Would love to come along on this one but am currently supposed to be working an afternoon shift unless I can swop it. If I manage to change it I'll join you, if not hopefully there'll be some other meets in the future I can come along to.

I've just got a Z4M roadster. Love it to bits, although I've not had too many chances for a decent blast in it yet.

Yeah, the car has hardly moved in the last week as I've got a 1.4 MG ZR for pottering about it in grotty weather so that's been doing all the work while there's so much ice/salt etc on the roads!

Is it just myself and possibly Junior X meeting you guys at Fleet Services?

P.S. I'd expect the traffic through Selbourne on the B3006 to be pretty busy through those width restrictions at that time of day, but you're leaving in plenty of time so should be ok.

The reason I asked was that if Junior X isn't able to make it for whatever reason, I could just park up on the A339 just prior to Basingstoke and pick up the tail of the convoy as it goes past, to help save time?

As for the meet on the 8th, as you know I'm nights on the 7th and 8th, so it's looking unlikely. I've got 7 hours leave remaining, so I'll see if I can get away early on the 7th. Would be nice to be able to make it as it's looking like a great turnout.

This is painful watching these plans to go to Ace cafe. I have a business client just around the corner from there i need to go and visit some time next week, but looks like they can't do Monday..! If i'd known earler I could have planned it a bit. Damn!! I'm always up and down to london on work so it also seems a bit painful to put another 200 miles on the car just for one evening, although it does sound good and i'm pretty tempted...

You never know, i might succumb to temptation and hook up. be sure to post your final route and timings and look out for a blue M5.

BTW: it is just off the North Circular, and not neccessarily obvious. I worked up there almost everyday for a couple of months in 2008 driving past all the time and only just realised it was there one day when i came off the north circ to get out of a traffic jam.

From M25, simplest is to go down the A40 (sat nav will usually go A4 and round north circ from there but i found A40 quicker usually. Depends if M25 is moving though.
on A40, once you;ve gone past hoover building (watch for the speed camera), look out for hanger lane junction and come off, join the north circ , (watch for the speed camera) then after maybe 3/4 mile you'll need to take an exit off and Ace is on the left. If you go under a double railway bridge, you've just missed it. If you go past IKEA - you've definately missed it!

If i dont make it, have a good time...!!
ps. i really do hope to make the meet on 8th.

I'm up for this one! Anyone else going from Winchester way? It would seem a bit silly for me to go in the wrong direction to Portsmouth so I'd be up for meeting at Fleet services or something if anyone else is. I'll be in the SOTW'esque Eunos unless my Dads looking the other way and I can grab his Porsche keys....

It's my first day back at work, but I could be tempted by this. Ironictwist, are you heading up from the Worthing area?
