Here's the link to a video of some ice drifting......

You can see how slippery it was. I struggled to get enough grip to get up any speed at all...! (my rear tyres are pretty heavily worn which doesn't help find grip either)

Taken this morning in a suitable car park, it’s no 400bhp M5 but the old auto tank still lives on, let’s hope it snows again and soon...

Nice one....
Would only be rude not to wouldn't it...!
4bhp would prob be enough on ice but having RWD and a limited slip diff definately makes for fun.
When i was out this morning I also had a fiesta, a seat, and Cortina/Mk1 Granada(sorry, not sure which) and even a guy in a VW transporter van were having a ball too..

Snnop is that VX your daily driver - if so whats it like. Love the rear diff and wing, looks awesome.
Yup, used in, as you can see, quite literally all weathers!

It's mainly a lot of fun, as you can imagine! Needs a lot of respect in the wet of course, but that's to be expected!

I don't have to do many motorway miles fortunately so I get to enjoy the best bits -- it's perfectly happy on the motorway (and fantastic for clearing people out the way in front, a real 'Moses parting the Red Sea' effect) but gets a little wearing over a long journey. Having said that, the seats in the VX are the only seats I've had in a car that don't give me a backache after 4+ hours in them!

I had a non-turbo VX for 3.5 years and 50,000 miles before getting the turbo, so I was very used to the bad aspects - steaming up, no effective heater, Vauxhall dealers, etc! The new one has a lot of trick performance bits on but still manages to be virtually as practical on a daily basis (can't get into the local Natwest car park due to ground clearance but that's about all so far!)

I've often considered a cheap 'shed' as a second car, but I keep coming back to the same realisation - if I look out the window in the morning and see some old barge sitting next to the VX, it's going to have to be pretty outstanding circumstances which cause me not to take the VX! biggrin

The best way to learn about how a car handles in a safe environment, sandbanks car park last night started with three cars but soon became over crowded with 20 odd cars all trying to drift, I gave up long before as a crash was imminent, boys in blue turn up in a disco 20min later and cleared people out, they apologised for putting an end to fun but said the sound of Scooby’s and 325i’s bouncing off the rev limiter were keeping people up in there million pound flats opps…

agreed - it's a good way to learn how your car handles. Shame if some people are irresponsible about it though.
You certainly don't need to be bouncing off rev limiters when on ice...!

I think some boy'd up Nova's had something to do with that. The other thing was I have no Diff, RWD or manual box but still found it alright with FWD and an auto lol. I drive across the sankbanks ferry to work so always have a look if conditions are in favour, still saving for an m3, will make it more fun

Indeed but I’ve wanted one for so long, I’ll stick to wide clear car parks should be alright

Cheers, being reading posts on the forums for a while and then saw the snow pictures and thought about time I shared, good times

Great shots and vids, keep them coming.
Must find me a large local carpark for a play in the Chim before all the white stuff goes. Unfortunately been using the company Jetta to and from work the last two days, only because I refuse to put my toolbox in the boot of the Chim, plus they won't pay for the fuel! frown

Snoopstah- Great pics mate. Whereabouts were they taken?
Cheers! Taken in one of our lesser-used (especially today) car parks at work (near Winchester).
Whereabouts near Winchester. I think I recognise it but I'm not sure....
I do believe its one of the carparks of Hursley's largest employer...

Ollie- can you text me your number mate, my iPhone has gone in for repair and stuck with a crappy old phone.

I wouldn't risk the M5 but as you can see from my pics/video's, you would have to be a complete dognut to do any damage to car, people or the surroundings.

Anyway, welcome. I hope you get your M3 as you want..... I love my M5. (ps. take a ride in an M5 before getting the M3).

Speaking to Stuart at MEV the other day he sent me a photo of his latest creation. Unfortunately it's unlikely to get far in the trials program but so far winter trials have been good

It's all good fun Jim. Actually the one in my profile is excellent in the snow. Leightweight (370kg), narrow tyres, CVT Gearbox, no ABS. Bit chilly though LOL but I'm used to that
