Luke, I don't know what the insurance would be like for you because it's a custom car, but this MX5 has been highly recommended by the chaps in the MX5 forum here. Apparently everything has been done to an extremely high spec, no expense spared, and the car is running a very lazy 220bhp with potential for much more.

A smidge under £6.8k.

Same weight as my VX with more power and the linearity of a SC? You're probably talking more like low 5s or even high 4s with the correct launch.

I'll PM you later Si! thumbup

I've been looking at Integras on and off for a while now, quite fancy a DC2.
I just don't think insurance is going to be that great, but I will find out.
It's going to be around £1k with Adrian Flux for the 182, but I'm going to try and speak to them again as the girl I spoke to yesterdays wasn't exactly helpful...
Apparently me restricting the mileage on the policy would make no difference (even though I suggested 8 or even 6k pa)... rolleyes

Whatever I buy is going to have to be standard though, insurance is silly enough standard; with mods I'll be paying for the whole companies Christmas party piss up on my own! biglaugh

Anyhoo, the other suggestions...
Not really interested in fast Fords beyond the Racing Puma and they're silly money (IMO!) for what they are...
The Fiat and 306 Rallye are interesting choices, will look into those...

I'm torn as to whether I want a standard 182 (non Cup, but with the Cup packs) or the Trophy...
There's a nice Trophy at a dealer well known for supplying them @ a smidge under £8k, and a nice private regular 182 in Racing blue with the bonnet stripes... cool
A set of the Speedline Turini's and I think that'd possibly be my choice! scratchchin

Ah, if only this had happened a few months ago, we had to off load our 04 plate black 182 with 21k on the clock to the dealer for £4,300 in PX! I would have accepted anything offered above that!!

If you're going to get a 182, lets do it properly.

Renault Clio 182 Trophy

I nearly brought a Trophy (my girlfriend sometimes wishes that I had!). Get that plaque on your dash.

Thanks for that!
Makes it a little more reassuring to have a word with them now! thumbup

I can't work out if I want a normal one or a Trophy... scratchchin
A standard car with the Recaros would be pretty appealing!

Come on insurance company... make a decision!!

Oh and David, a Seven is a somewhat left-field choice in comparison to a 182...
Although I know my dad loves both! thumbup

the truphey is the ultimate clio thats not a v6 the tropey has uprated susspention and geometry setup and is far better than a 182/172 cup

Trophy is more focused. What it looses to the full fat 182 (xenons, climate control, rear head rests! to name a few), it gains in being a better hooning beast.

Trophy will also set you out from the rest of the 182 owners. Not often you see a Trophy (saying this didn't one come to last months blat to the coast?) and it'll hold it's money better being a limited run.
