Hi chaps, thinking of moving away from Retro Renaults & have been looking for suitable cars.....I've been looking at Celica GT4's - anyone had any experiences of these cars.....looks like a whole lot of motor for peanuts money...

Any thoughts/tips would be much appreciated..

Thanks!!

Fantastic cars. OH has an ST205 WRC edition, has owned it for over 6 years as despite lusting after all sorts of other cars as he hasn't been able to part with it. He is finally looking to sell it though.

Don't know how local you are (we're in Brighton) but if close you'd be welcome to have a look, sure OH would be happy to show you round & chat about engines & take you for a spin biggrin (Not trying to flog you the car, more if you wanted to see one & learn more about them).

I drive it too, and had it not been for me specifically wanting a 2 seater would probably have bought it off him, it's an awful lot of fun, reliable & IMHO, better looking than it's comparables (Evo's & Scoobies).

Thanks for your comments.....would be interested in having a look - i've seen a couple in the classified section for sensible money - not looking for a "monster" - a lightly upgraded one would be fine....i'll drop you a pm to possibly arrange a meet up...

Be wary there are a lot of dogs around and if you get a bad one it will be a money pit

example

clutch change > £300
fig 8s lower arms > £250 per side (suspention components known to wear out at around 60-80000 miles)

get over to the website I mentioned earlier will definitely help you avoid some of the pitfall with these great cars.

Definitely listen to Magpie!

They are truly superb bits of kit no matter which you go for and generally bullet proof too, the only problem is when something breaks it can really, really hurt the wallet, even if like me you do all the work yourself!

Not the most pleasant of cars to work on. Supreme engineering, but at the expense of your hands - you'll have to have them chopped off and midget sized ones installed to get to the majority of parts.

Found one with recently changed "8's" & clutch (about 1,500 miles ago) 66,000 miles - '94 GT4 (import) look's fantastic but it's chuffing miles away.....eekeek
