Mashed front bumper!! AGAIN!! 2nd time in a month!!
Discussion
I went to visit a family member who had just moved into a new david wilson home, theres 1 cul de sac is already completed and theyve sold most the houses in there, they still building behind.
coming up into the car park they have made a temporary tarmac ramp to get up the curb, its quite short and steep and has scraped away the bottom of my splitter at the front, which id only just had the front bumper repaired a week ago which cost me £200 from where someone had done a hit and run!
heres the picture of the culprit of their stupid attempt at a ramp!
the area they are still working on behind
THE DAMAGE
Where my bumper actually ended up!
the car park
It wasnt just my car though that struggled on that ramp, the rover thats parked next to my car which is the mother in laws also scraped her car on that ramp, but unlike elises, most other cars have that plastic trim on the bottom of the bumper whereas the lotus is just fibreglass!
Im furious with david wilson homes for not putting a proper ramp in especially now people have moved in and its inevitable that people will park there, family and friends will come and visit so they should make sure that the area is accessable! the pictures doesnt do the steepness or shortness of the ramp any justice.
I know i probably wont get anywhere with this big organisation, but there is no signs on the walls the usual disclaimer, i tried to complain in the show home office which was shut and i also have a short video i took on my camera showing the ramp, the remains of my bumper on the ramp and the surrounding area.
Anyone wrote complaint letters like this before or know where a good place to start would be?
p.s. i must be the most unluckiest elise driver in the world!!

I have a similar problem on the approach to my house, we live in a brand new house built by Persimmon. The tempory ramps we have look identical to yours. I have written to Persimmon several times now, at first I didnt even get a response. Then when I got a reply, it indirectly said that they didnt give a st and that come June the builders will have left the site and all roads would be completed.
If I were you I wouldnt waste your time, dealing with these companies is like pulling teeth. They are run by ignorant morons!

aprouching it at the time it didnt looks that steep so i crawled up it thinking i get over speed bumps ok and there is no where else to park.. and then it happened and it wasnt until i got out of the car and then realised the extent of the ramp but by that time it was too late the damage had been done
Need to be more careful, dont know if I'ld of done it with the G but have been known to give things a try.
Fortunatly I havent damaged mine just catch the toe eye/maybe chassis? When I go down multistory car parks I can't use the foot brake, instead having to crawl with the h/brake.
Letters keep it formal/profesional include an estimate but before any of that give them a call.
Give it 5 trys and on your final ask for half.

I very much doubt you will get anywhere. I ripped the exhaust off my Lotus years ago on the speed humps in Godalming High Street Others had even ripped their sump off and guess what, absolutely no come back at all. It's just one of the things you have to be awares of when driving over humps. There's many a place all over the country with gouges in the tarmac.

I did know someone who buckled his german manufactured spit rims on a pothole, went to council (either west sussex or surrey) and got a full cost replacement. If they do kick up on things about cars being low, you can simply turn back and say its manufactures standard road height approved for british roads and if they'd maintain the roads like they did 10 years ago you wouldnt have this problem.Justin believe me I did just that. A pot hole is pretty much unarguably a defect and a hazard. Speed humps and ramps however are different as they are intentionally put there by someone, often to do the same thing but they are designed. There's design specifications on these and that's where the problem lies (though perhaps the dimensions may have changed now) The specs are fine for your people carrier or 4x4 but sports cars no. Ironically though I've seen many a bus do exactly the same as the Elise did.
I'm afraid to say the folk responsible for the roads just hide behind the specifications and to hell with the blatantly obvious evidence, that's simply our fault.
