Dear all, me and the missus are looking to go to Devon for a few days very soon and was wondering what there is to do. What we are after are nice pubs and nice places to walk.

I've stayed in Brixham and loved it but fancy somewhere else. We are happy to stay in any form of accomodation including farms, b & bs etc but would like to do it as cheap as possible.

I loved Brixham for it's olde worlde charm so would like somewhere similar.

All suggestions welcome!!

Thanks

above is where im staying in June with my girlfriend for a weekend. It is £149 for the 2 nights for the Raliegh Cottage and it looks pretty good. I have not been there before but this was one of the better places based on my searching.

Hope this helps

Eggesford is nice as well, though a little small perhaps.

I'm a big fan of Croyde myself. Couple of great little pubs- good surf. Saunton Sands is spectacular as you come in over the cliff to Croyde.

Yeah I'd agree with DC on this one I was in Woolacombe last week and drove through Croyde and Saunton both lovely little places.
My favourite Devon place is still Lynton/Lynmouth fantastic views interesting history and the Victorian Cliff railway/lift. The roads round there are something to behold as well evil

croyde is good
also lynmouth/lynton with the water cliff train is nice,
the walk upto to watersmeet is very good
coombe martin is also quite nice

we stayed in the rising sun in lynmouth but it was £150 a night

there are some nice places just up the street for approx £40-£50 a night
as above good roads there too

Shaldon is nice. Dartmouth is worth a day trip (go by steam train from Paignton, it was great).

For accommodation inspiration make sure you check www.sawdays.co.uk - I wouldn't travel without it these days smile It sorts pretty much all my accomodation for going racing!
