Having been recommended to me by another 'PH' member it's my turn to thank David and Simon at Prestige Garage Doors for a shiny new Roller Door.

Apart from obviously being petrol heads David and Simon are superb tradesmen. They offered a no fuss approach to choosing and installing a new door to replace my tired up and over that wasn't exactly weather tight.

They arrived this morning and got cracking despite the inclement weather were done and dusted by the end of lunchtime. Tidy, removed all the old door and mechanism and took it away, one couldn't ask for more.

Highly recommneded to any other PH looking for a new door on the South Coast/in the South.

Ok, took a before and after picture;

Old up & over door

Replaced with a SWS Securoglide auto roller door in Anthracite, seals all round with white pvc cheek boards to make good brick reveal

After reading the recommendations on here, I took the decision to get my double up & over door replaced with a SecuroGlide Roller Door by Prestige Garage Doors.

Really pleased with the results. Not only is the garage more secure it's also going to prevent dust and leaves blowing under a gap I used to have at the bottom of my old door. Also makes the house look a lot smarter.

Big thanks to David and Simon for a great job. (Guys feel free to add any before and after photos here as that describes it better than anything I can write up). Hope to see you again at a PH event soon.

just make sure no kids kick a football at it, or a sparrow sts on it or it will end up dented...
seriously I cant believe how easily this type of garage door dents and is scratched, just from opening and closing. I have had one fitted for about 11 months now and it looks older than the door(s) it replaced..

WELL, it was obviously not fitted by us, I can assure you if you had a quality door fitted by us you certainly would not have experienced the problems you have. My suggestion is to take your complaint to the installer/manufacturer, if its a reputable company you dealt with you should have redress under a comprehensive warranty. Shame you were not aware of us at the time phoneargue

Indeed, SWS curtains are webbed meaning there's no contact between slats during operation. Other doors use an end locked curtain setup which then means the weight of the door is held in the slats as it rolls up. The problem is particularly pronounced on a double sized door and leaves you with a ripple effect.

As we say to all our potential customers, even if you don't buy from us, whatever you do ... don't buy anything other than an SWS door. You'll be disappointed.

it has little to do with contact between the slats, they are aluminium and as such are very "soft" and easy to dent. Wasnt having a go at your company , just warning of the known failings of this type of door.

Fair comment mate, just don't want to be tarring all roller doors with the same brush! Garage doors of any type aren't built for football target practice. The beauty of a roller door is IF it does get damaged the individual slats can be replaced! Unfortunately it boils down to how the door is cared for. You wouldn't kick a ball against your car and expect it not to leave a dent would you??

Another recommendation for David and Simon at Prestige Garage Doors. Friendly and efficient service and they were very competitive on price too. Here is a before and after photo for interest!

Well, that's it. Job done. Started at 1030 finished by 1500. Another fine piece of work by 'Doorman' and his faithful assistant.

Hi David,

Looks like you’re still doing a great job!

My dad has just bought a year old Hormann door on eBay. It was just down the road from him in Ferndown, a lovely light oak effect electric up and over sectional door. It’s really nice. It was put into a high end property when it was refurbished but when the developers sold it, the new owners decided they wanted to convert the garage into a room! So they put the door on eBay. My dad bought it at a bargain price and it took us about an hour and a half to dismantle it to get it home. We just hope it’s not too difficult to reinstall it!!

Got quite a bit of building work to do first as he’s putting the door on the other wall of the garage and blocking up the old door, so but hopefully it will look good when it’s finished.

I do still want an electric opener for my Garador (remember we were talking about it ages ago?) but can’t afford it right now frown

I must admit each time I popped around there did seem to be a bit of an 'Imbalance' regarding the actual work output.....
