Yes, good point on Carfest, and perhaps I have only the golden memories from when it was a Chol. Now combine the two!!
I was amazed that when they moved Carfest to Oulton Park, they didn't use the whole circuit, just about 2/3 of it as a sprint track. From a car point of view, for me Carfest was much less of a show than CPOP - paddocks closed from 10am, effectively a sprint track rather than the full thing. Now, if you wanted food, no problem at all. What they did manage somehow was to get many many people in there. I don't know how they managed it - perhaps the persistent plugging on a national radio station, and of course there's no way to match that. Carfest was good (I only went at Cholmondeley as well), but a different target.
Thanks to the people who donated to Sporting Bears Dream Rides, as said earlier, we are all volunteers, fuelling our cars at our expense, to raise money and smiles all weekend. Also thanks to the massive team of volunteer drivers, helpers and businesses that support our stand, I've just returned from 2 days with Bears at The Supercar Event at Dunsfold, then we will be seen at other events all year, sharing our cars...... but we can't do that without
Events to be at
Drivers willing to share their cars
Helpers to Marshal (usually while partners are drivers)
plus of course the public who donate their hard earned notes to enjoy 10miles on the open road.
We'll see you at CPoP next year, in the meantime we'll be at many other events finishing at the NEC Classic Car Show in November, when most cars were tucked up last year we had 100+ each day and raised over £40,000 for Children's Charities. Say hello to the Bears near you www.sportingbears.co.uk

Any interesting cars that are not in a club headed for the public car park have been diverted to car clubs, this year we had a wonderful selection including a new mclaren various fezzes and some lovely classics which otherwise would have been buried in the public car park.
Hi Russ, for the 2nd year in a row, I got to park in the public car park when I arrived in a pre-war car. I'm not having a moan, just letting you know.

We came in through the first gate southbound on the A49, through the arch - the main entrance to the castle I presume.
That's a shame as, if you'd carried on a further mile down the road, you'd have come to a cross roads with the Cholmondeley Arms on the left. Turn right at that junction and the car club entrance is second on the right. So next time........snapper8v said:

Yep, got turned away there too. First time at Cholmondley instead of Harewood House for Fathers Day.Even though I won't be attending for the foreseeable future, I may still be involved with organizing our car club stand thus, if anyone wants the car club pass, then PM me closer to next year's event and I'll see what I can do as not everyone with a classic car is a member of an owners/enthusiasts club.
Yes, I think the only redirecting Russ was talking about was if you come in Gate 3 (opposite the Ch Arms) and aim for the car clubs. As I think back though, I had to show my car club pass on the way in there, but there was a big car park area behind the club displays which had plenty of normal cars on, so I don't know how they got in if they didn't have a club pass. Unless that was 'club guests and friends'.

Nope, just a normal public car park, maybe an "over spill" but saying that, a Lancia Beta was directed to park amongst those cars until I spotted them and asked if they'd like to join us on our club stand.Sorry fane and anybody else but I told the guys on gate 2 and 3 which is the gate for car clubs and public car park anything unusual or interesting to send them to car clubs I would let them park in our section unfortunately you must have gone to a different gate possibly gate 1 or 4 if I am on next year please use the car clubs gate and you can park with us we did have a wonderful selection.
Goodwood was, as expected, ten times better than Chumly as it ought to be seeing that this year was its 22nd year. The last time that I was at the FoS was back in 2007. Has it changed much? There seemed to be more corporate hospitality units than I remembered but the manufacturers had a much larger presence. Goodwood has got THE name to be seen at, hence why it attracts top teams and drivers/riders and former/current champions. The whole weekend was sold out.

I've got it set to record tomorrow morning on C4, but it's only half the programme you're getting on BT.
ETA: Good programme, set the scene well. I said to one of the organisers a couple of years ago that if they got some of the footage and stuck it on a DVD, they'd probably sell plenty. Still don't seem to have done it though, maybe this programme is a step in the right direction.
