I'm just sick of the constant rain and flooded roads!

Off to Keswick now for the new year celebrations and I have a feeling I'm going to get wet later on...

Best wishes to all Cumbria PH'ers for 2016. Hope the guys who got flooded get back on track soon.

Heading over in a couple of weeks and spending a couple of days in Glenridding (Ullswater)

No idea what to expect as I've never been that far North (and haven't been in England in Winter since I was 9)

Planning the route in from somewhere near Carlisle, no matter what I do the map won't let me turn off past Penrith and take the A592 down the West side of the lake. It acts as if the road doesn't exist past Pooley Bridge, and forces me to continue on the M6 and come up through Kendal, which seems to add at least 50+ Km?

Any local knowledge would be great please

Pooley bridge has been destroyed by the recent flooding and glenridding was hit hard 2-3 times in December so not sure what's open there.
Also the road by thirlmere was washed away.

So from Carlisle am afraid to the far side of ullswater will be either Kendal and across or head across 66 and cut down by rheged services I think.
  • edit
Just looked there and the 592 is the rheged turn off which comes out past where the damaged bridge is so I'd have thought that was still open? If not am sure there's 1-2 other turn offs on 66 that cut down to ullswater that will be accessible.

Pretty mild here at the moment but more flood warnings this week unfortunately!

Was at the beach all morning today practising my swimming smile

I just had a closer look at the map and checked google, the road was closed in December due to flooding but nothing about it still being closed... as you say there are other roads south, further west on the A66 if needed. The 592 doesn't appear to cross the river and bypasses Pooley Bridge by 500metres or so.
Time will tell, over 3 weeks until we go there.

We're booked into the Inn on the lake who assure us that all is well smile

Was going to get a GPS with the hire car but they charge almost as much for the GPS as the car!!

M6 - J40 - A66 - A592 to Glenridding is fine. I live just off the A592 near .Ullswater.

Cheers Matt. I've sent you an email but I don't know if PH Mail works these days?

Seems like it's borked as I didn't get my copy. Anyone know a workaround?

Hello there, just noticed this part of the site!

PH here from Workington, West Cumbria with a TVR T350.

Would be happy to do a meet this year when the weather improves!

that's a super car. lovely.

A mate of mine had a Cerbera, which felt huge and scared the living st out of me, and then my boss at one point had a T350C, just great.

That's a lovely looking car!

Always liked TVR's, this and the swordfish Tuscan are dreamy...

I also like the colour, 'cos it reminds me of my Pheonix Yellow Z4!

Lovely looking car! I had a Tuscan 2S for the summer of 14 and went across Europe in it, was the perfect car for it!

My brother in law caught the bug and currently has a lovely cerbera. We're both from Carlisle.

Eager to get a meet organised. Possibly March??

I am up for that, I presume we don't need 300bhp+ to join in?
