Me Brampton too. What you currently driving Laura'sOH? Do I see you around?
Apologies for the delay in replying, I've only just moved in last summer but if you see a red mx5 with a LOH number plate that'll be me :

Interesting website on your profile, there's a knee surgeon as a neighbour as a matter of fact!
He's my mate, Matt. Just bought a big (old man's) Sovereign, if it's him. We work together.

Parked behind a red MR2 with a white PH smiley on back window on South Street in Cockermouth on Friday, first PH smiley I've spotted in the area I think. Need to get one for my current car. That car belong to anyone who frequents this thread?

@likesachange, any idea when you are planning your run out for?

Can still do one for the 3rd... Must admit am not the best at organising things so if anyone would like to jump in? LOH has kindly offered for us to start at his in Brampton which is a good option.

Also have seen there is a big drive going on the same day for a buttertubs run which happens every year and I've never done it so would be up for that too although might be a bit over crowded.

The Scottish Borders is prob my favourite area purely due to lack of traffic.

Did get directed to this thread but couldn't join the dots. Was a tad hungover on Sunday so unlikely i could have made it, however if OK with others i'll keep my eye on this section for any future events.

Was at the beach all morning today practising my swimming smile

I just had a closer look at the map and checked google, the road was closed in December due to flooding but nothing about it still being closed... as you say there are other roads south, further west on the A66 if needed. The 592 doesn't appear to cross the river and bypasses Pooley Bridge by 500metres or so.
Time will tell, over 3 weeks until we go there.

We're booked into the Inn on the lake who assure us that all is well smile

Was going to get a GPS with the hire car but they charge almost as much for the GPS as the car!!
Thought I would post an epilogue to my short visit to this forum;

I upgraded the hire car to a Volvo XC60, mainly for the inbuilt sat nav but the AWD was handy too, plus the bonus of fitting my 18YO daughter's luggage in easily...

We were very lucky with the weather for most of our visit, some crisp snowy days, and only a couple of grey wet days. Unfortunately the worst day was the day we were booked to go on the Ullswater steamer, which they cancelled due to the rain and wind. Might have been for the best, I had a massive hangover that day from far too much red wine the night before, I got lost staggering back to the hotel from the cottage my brother and his family were staying in.

A couple of pix, which I also posted in the "official winter 2015/16" thread in the lounge:

Panorama from our balcony, Inn on the Lake, Glenridding

Appropriately dressed for clearing the snow from the windscreen, I spent this entire day in a T shirt in the sun, until the wind picked up smile ETA: no idea why this one is sideways, it's vertical on my laptop...
