Quite glad that I didn't make it in time for a display space, given that it'll be hosing it down on Monday. I'll still be attending in the old crock, but I may just arrive a little later than 10am...

Now that I didn't know. I did think that the entry and exit times were a tad draconian though.

Interesting about the entry and exit times, I hadn't noticed those. I don't recall there being any talk of them last year, I certainly came away before 6pm on the Sunday last year. It's not uncommon - CPOP want car display entries in place by 8am every day. Donington were refreshingly relaxed about it last year - come and go as you please.

They didn't enforce the leaving time. People were leaving from 3.00pm onwards mostly at the the first and only few drops of rain!

This was the first Gold Cup I've been to, and was a bit surprised to be directed away to the outfield for parking, as I've always parked near Cascades previously. Nevertheless, it was a great day - very pleased that the weather was better than expected. Saw plenty of great cars and racing. Managed to take a couple of hundred photos, and thought I'd post a few.

Yes, we've had variable weather over the weekend - atrocious on Saturday morning, lovely all day on Sunday, and mixed today.

If we're doing photos....

Nice pics - it looks like you were shooting next to us for the 70s road sports championships cars (the avenue, on the outside of the circuit). I'll try and put some of mine up next weekend.

Ah! I saw the Chevy and Lotus - two cars down from where I parked the Puma. I nearly came over for a chat - wish I had now, as both cars looked great (and MrsT66 loves big American 50's trucks... I think she secretly wants to be Daisy Duke).

It looked like you had a better place to sit than me, too - the Puma's boot is a little too high and uncomfy. I usually stand on the infield side of the track, but MrsT66 wanted to sit down, and the only place was in the car. Oh, and sadly my lens isn't really big enough for motorsports events, but MrsT66 seems happy enough with the results. Dropsnoot, judging by his photos, looks like he's certainly got a bigger lens than me....

Lolz smile Shame we had to get off when we did, although I did have a dragging rear brake for a few miles frown

That red De Tomaso Mangusta was superb - you got a couple of good photos of it there, thepickle. Would love one of those in my garage next to a Pantera. However, I thought the Escort MKII that ran in the Touring Cars race on the Sunday was the best sounding car of the day.

Certainly seems there were a few from Pistonheads there on the day!

Most of that's cropping, though. If you zoom in too close for the shot, you run the risk of missing something that happens just off-frame. As it happens I do have quite a long zoom, but it's used more for its quality than maximum length - it hardly ever goes above half-way.
