Whoever passed planning on this must have been high on something. Is anybody else experiencing problems because of the roadworks?

Yup! Five days a week of pain in ass traffic for 18 months. And I'll happily bet anything on the finished product doing anything but reduce congestion. By the sounds of it the lane can't be used by non-buses outside of rush hour and if a bus breaks down in the lane, won't it just block other buses?

It's behind programme too, had ecology problems or something, so sections of it have been delayed I believe.

Wouldn't expect anything else in this country. And it'll make less of a difference than expected when it's finished.

Yeah it's like a team, only a really s**t version. I looked at the proposals in detail. There's supposed to be a park n ride going under the M61 flyover. I just can't see this thing being successful. You can park in Manchester for £4 or £5. People won't get on a bus and pay (probably) similar amounts to extend their overall journey time and sit on a sweaty bus.

I guess not sitting in traffic on the East Lancs is also a factor.

I was at a networking event a couple of months back and we had a guy from the council there. He was justifying it as a brilliant thing for Leigh as they'll have more people from Manchester visiting and it will be great for local business etc. As far as I can see all it's going to do is get more people out of Leigh and the place will die off even more? I know where I'd rather spend my time...
