I have recently noticed some new signs on posts on the A537 near Knutsford that look suspiciously like speed limit repeaters, but appear to be covered with bin liners.

Shall we try to guess what the new speed limit, replacing the NSL, will be?

Doesn't surprise me. I use the A535 daily from Chelford to Holmes Chapel and that's all gone to 50, and 30 in some places (which is quite ridiculous imo, particularly where the limit change signs are)

...and, a 50 mph limit has now been introduced on Chelford Road.

It could have been worse, but I don't believe that it was necessary or will make much difference to anything.

The various reduced limits on the A535 and A50 are quite unnecessary too. The long stretch of 30 on the A535 is frustrating.

Drives me mad.......all the NSLs are being changed to 50's and even worse it only affects cars. I suppose the lorries can go 10 mph faster!

The 50's are a right pain in the arse... there's no need for them whatsoever.

I saw a scamera van parked up by Dingle Bank quarry after the straight leaving Chelford the other day - I'm sure it won't be the first time or the only place they will be parking up in now the limit's dropped.

"It's 50 for a reason"

...apparently.

Those new 30 limits on the A535 are ridiculous, way too long. That said my partner broke down by the Yellow Broom last year and lets just say you do NOT want to get in some of these people's way at 8:30am.

its all the way to macc certainly from the 40 at henbury onto the monks heath cross roads

as for the 30s there was a big campaign from the pretentious and self important of jodrell bank about too many crashes at the bends so the police capitulated and the council bent over backwards and took it up the arse and reduced the speed limit which is ignored by the sand quarry contractors and many locals - but its all in the name of safety and the poor children

i suppose you could blame the failure of those drivers who are unable to negotiate simple bends using a steering wheel, four tyres and three foot levers, seat and a big cage, after all if the fkers didn't crash the arsoholes wouldn't be up in arms.

its the same on the a50, even worse is the bit through high legh extended 40 then 50 to the junc with m6, 50 all the way from H/C to sford - because people are unable to negotiate bends and crash into old cottages or the hedge or the traffic in the opposite direction

it does appear to be a "disease" throughout Cheshire, there doesn't appear to be many nsl sections left and there doesn't appear to be any sort of check even though they have to go to a mags court and apply to have the limit reduced - i never see any notices - perhaps im' not reading the correct comics, but then any challenge would fail because speed kills and nanny must save us from ourseleves

The A50 at High Legh is another ridiculous limit reduction.

The A roads of Cheshire are generally high quality and wide with good, open views. There are some bends, yes, but people have been driving around them for the past century or so.

The 'consultation' notices are apparently placed on lamp-posts on the roads in question before the limit is reduced -so pedestrians can read them, although almost all drivers will be unaware of them. If they do find about about it, only the retired or possibly Cheshire wives will have the time to devote to 'campaigning'.

Been down the A537 from Macc to Knutsford today. I usually go the back roads through Siddington, Lower Withington, Cranage etc. Anyway, the 50 signs visible now. All the way from Henbury where the 40 ends (as posted above) to Toft. With the 30 in Chelford still.

I'm not sure that a tight twisty road would need a 50 limit either.
