I've recently bought a 2006 Audi S6 avant. V10 engine but it's a little muted at the moment. I had a saloon previously and had a Milltek non res fitted. This cost me £1150. I don't want to spend that much this time around although I do want a better sound.

I'm looking at just getting different backboxes with new tips. Does anyone have any experience of either place? JP Exhausts are in Macclesfield. Top Gear are a LongLife exhaust dealer based in Bredbury.

I've used JP Exhausts a couple times. Work is good, they did the exhaust on my Monaro.

This is the Monaro Catback.

Vid below of the sound, testing the 2 step so the popping is caused by that in this video, can hear a proper rev near the end.

This was around £800 but as a catback system, including X pipe, 2 mufflers, 2.5" pipe in stainless. Took them the entire day to do it, an my car was basically the only one in there they were working on.

I got a quote for a pair of sports cats to be fitted at TopGear and thought they were a bit expensive.

Being honest though, you don't save much money with a decent custom set up vs off the shelf.

Used top gear for my s197 asked for a straight thought set of pipes to let out a bit of noise. Didn't do what I asked which ended up muting it instead The detailing wasn't perfect either. The exhaust tips are branded with 'long life' which IMHO is a bit halfords retrofit bling/tatt. Be very specific on what you want. HTH

I've also used JP exhausts in the past, although it was a few years ago now I have nothing bad to say about them at all. They built exactly what I asked for and at what I considered to be a reasonable price.

I'd certainly use them again if I still lived in the area.

Another vote for JP. Had their TVR systems in the past, and they used my ST220 as a development car. Quality work.

JP.
Their TVR manifolds are a work of art - they made and fitted a set for me at least 10 years ago - they produce all the ACT TVR stuff. They built and fitted a partial exhaust for a Mitsubishi VR4 as well - all great quality, careful fitting, decent price - again, a few years ago, but they still have a good reputation. Always like to have a nosey if the workshop doors are open to see what they're working on - it's usually something rare and interesting..
Cheap tyres across the road from them as well.
