Linked in no use for a trainee internal sales person - everyone on that site is the next Branson lol, it's mainly headsets, phone systems and conference phones to business and long range cordless to hotels etc - no cold calling as we have more leads than we can cope with hence we need a new trainee person.

If I was looking I'd be heading for Monster, Jobsite and networking with people I knew

Do you have staff already? Thought about offering a referral fee for their mates to work at your place? £500 is a good figure, pay it after 6 months of the new employee being in the job.

I dont think there's a shortage, I think you might be looking in the wrong places.

We have never had a real sales person and I want a real one that we can train to handle new and ongoing business - ie an aware person and I am just not finding the raw material.

My brother had the same trouble when he wanted sales people, the creatures that were put forward from the job centre only wanted to be seen to be looking for a job or had very little English.

He tried Gumtree with no success, not a one with any form of sales spark.

I had no idea that i was a brilliant salesman until at 21 working as a motorcycle courier in Manchester(many years ago) we got a new general manager from that there London, he was a 'super salesman' we got on really well, one Friday he asked did i have a suit, i said no but could get one at the weekend and 'why'
He said he needed a new rep for another part of the company, i thought why not, it was horrible, thrown in the deep end and wandered round businesses without a clue, rejection after rejection for 2 days, then fluck me if i didn't sell something (100m of display hessian and 15 gallons of Magnolia emulsion) that was it then, i was a sales monster, loved it, had no idea it was in me but he did.

He won't command a high basic.

Drop me a PM with your contact details and I'll pass them on to him.

Not much chance of finding a local guy - I am getting desperate as having to call the customers myself and I hate that.

AB - no email ?

I passed it on so expect something through imminently.

Failing that, I spend a few hours a day in the car so I'll call your customers, sell them anything you want, for a price.
