Been a Mecca for affordable but interesting used cars for many years, despite a distinct move downmarket in recent times.

Decent discounts for straight sales made their pricing very tempting, and they always had a good selection of PH-approved motors :-)

Website was down so I thought I'd take a stroll there in person, only to find they've completely vanished!

Anyone know what happened or whether they've got different premises now?

I think the guy who owned that site (Nigel i think) has a site in Moreton in Wirral.

They always had an eclectic bunch of cars, two thirds of which I wanted, but always in bad nick and not prepped. And they didn't seem too keen on selling either, and didn't really know what they had. They had van rental also; I saw one of the vans about recently, so maybe still trading that.

Is this anything to do with the "A41 Car Sales" that used to be just outside Whitchurch around twenty years ago? They had similar stock, usually had at least one quattro for example, and the comment about preparation rings a bell too.

Could be, as prior to vacating the old pitch close to Chester Zoo, their website redirected to a41carsales from mostoncarsales.

Comments about the lack of prep are spot on - you'd rush up excitedly to view a mega motor that caught your eye, only to have your heart sink at the ripped leather or cracked bumper!

I live not far from the place and I noticed all the cars had vanished about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I've never been to it, when I drove past and looked at prices it seemed like a lot of cars there started off way to expensive, and then over a few weeks the price would come down and down until it finally sold. It gave me the impression that it was "trying it on" and attempting to flog cars to people who thought they were maybe getting something better than they actually were.

Very slow response, but A41 - now NWS - have some hilarious stock!! Most of it of any note has been there for 18 months and is in terrible nick. Lots of similarities but different owners. Their 456 Fezza has had a terrible respray to red, a flat tyre and hasn't seen much tlc regardless of the price.

I'd never have got a car from this lot. I used to commute past daily, but one of their guys used to take something fairly sport home nightly then drive back in at the same time as me on a morning. Down Rake Lane he used to absolutely hammer the cars. Back then it was really bumpy, typically they resurfaced it just as I stopped having to use it. So I'd get to see the very same car getting thrashed within an inch of it's life on a morning and drive past it up for sale on an evening.
