Pistonheads members car detailed by OCD...
Discussion
Obsessive Car Detailing is pleased to announce we now have the ability to deal with dent and scratch repair thanks to finding a contractor who met our expectations.
This is the first step of many in expanding the facilities that OCD has to offer... I hope this will be of some help to some of my customers who have asked for this facility.

I had a customer who asked me to detail his 1997 200sx S14a that required full paint correction work.
After discussion we decided that it would recieve the Zanio finishing treatment as he is very busy and not able to spend much time waxing the car therefore the Zaino was well suited in this case.
This is what arrived at 9am:
Car was washed using foaming lance, wash bucket, grit guards and wash mitts then clay'd with Zaino clay bar - one of the best clays I have used to date :thumb:
Zaino:
Into the garage and dried off then the PTG put to use... and....
:doublesho :doublesho :doublesho
Not good at all... done about 20 of these cars now in the past 12 months and this is the lowest reading I have ever seen on them - the whole car with the exception of the rear pass quarter / door that has seen paint was in the region of 65 - 85um over :doublesho :doublesho
So after a little more inspection and a chat with Iain we came to the conclusion someone has been at it with a heavy polishing compound in the past... now this was a problem as you can see:
VERY heavily swirled in some areas and to make matters even worse the paint seemed to be relatively hard on this one... something very odd going on with the paint...
Door shuts were in the region of 55um as well which is incredibly low considering my own car, same colour, etc has readings of 90um + :doublesho
So I very slowly worked my way up through polish / pad combos taking LOTS of PTG readings as I went ... I eventually settled for Menzerna FF 3.01 + Wolfgang polishing pad on rotary using 1100rpm and lots of slow passes... it did the trick but progress was very slow... RDS obviously remained behind but it got a full deswirl so was rather pleased :thumb:
Polishing nearly done...
Time for the Zaino...
Finished at last after 10hrs...
Very pleased with the Zaino look :thumb:
Thanks for reading :thumb:
