Had shark at the plough once, a good few years ago now, very nice it was too !

Took a different girl to the original post out last Sunday to Owens in Southport after rave reviews from some friends. Get there and they aren't serving food so I went to the Scarisbrick on Lord Street. Didn't realise it was a 2 for £6 type of a place, but despite the food being beyond bad, it was something to laugh about.

Theres a newish Bangladeshi resteraunt on the A6 at Barton (on the left as you head towards lancaster, just opposite Preston Jag Centre).

Open 365 days a year, so no need to worry about that! And the food is most excellent. Nice surroundings too! Its on my "date list" anyway...

Sounds like a good alternative, How would you describe Bangladeshi food. I imagine it to be like a good old curry - but more lentils and a little drier ?

Three Fishes, Top place
Northcote Manor Better Still.

Heard good reports of Yu & You.

Barton Bangra I thought was spectacularly average, but I am going to try one more time, a take-away from them them this weekend.

Portofinos in Lytham is good, however Amicis in Garstang was fantastic, but the owners have/are selling because they have a new place in Lytham which if it is as good as Amicis was, it will give Portofino a run for its money.

Do you know the name of the place in Lytham that Amicis have taken over? I was under the impression that the two owners (front of house guy and the chef) had a bit of a fall out at Garstang and decided to go their separate ways?

The food used to be superb and the place had a great atmosphere despite being so small.

I've had my lunch in the Yu and You (car park!) hehe

Thanks to the winds yesterday I rediscovered the back roads home and drove past the Heighton Manor (sp). Classic English and Mediterranean dishes...anyone been?

I know it is the chef from Amicis is the one that has started the one in Lytham so the food should be good
but I don't know the name of the new place, a little digging needed.

Lois, I have heard the Heighton Manor is OK nothing special. But it's on a good road to blast past,
er so I am told!

I went to the new Japanese place, Sakura, in Preston on Friday. It is a Teppanyaki place, think of the chef cooking in front of you, flipping utensils, etc.

Asside from a few opening night issues it was quite reasonable. The only gripe was there seemed to be a small mountain of salt in the food.

Must try that Sakura !

Anyone know what's happening with the old Little Chef near Longton ?

Also a little bird tells me the Italian Orchard folks will be opening a new place in the Black Horse (A59 opposite Bhangla Fusion) in the not too distant future.

Sounds like some good eating around my end soon !

I have heard the Little Chef will be Mediteranean (sp) food. Bangla Fusion is always good for food and if your near Southport Botanic Bistro in Churchtown is very highly recommended, food is amazing.
