Just heads up for anyone heading past Northwich tonoght, there is a scameravan on the West bound side just past the Smoker pub. Quite a heavy trafpol presence to back it up as well (maybe its an ANPR jobbie).

Wont catch many folk tonight though, its pissing dsown and everyone is travelling slowly.

I saw that too, what was all the police presence all about, I must have seen at least four cars on that short stretch to Morrisons!?

yep ANPR... the did this down at the tickle trout - about 4 cameras setup and 4 police cars ready to go...

my friend was stopped by one of these 'traps' the other week, tuens out that on the polices comuter he was not insured. Luckily he had his particulars with him. Turns out that insurance companies are not legally bind to update the computer system mad

So i bet they stop a load of people just for that. great use of the technology rolleyes

I went past this ANPR camera a couple of weeks ago. I was turning left out of plumely lane onto the A556. Gave it some beans to go round a van only to be faced with a chevroned van with cameras sticking out of it. I shed a few MPH and went past swearing at myself. Further up the A556 before your turn off for northwich there were some police cars so it was obviously ANPR. Just to make sure a went up to the next round about and went back down to check. I crept past the van reading every bit of writing on it. I then crept past plod; one of the BiB gave me a wave as I went past for the second time (i've got quite a distinctive car!).

Automatic Number Plate Recognition.

Checks reg plates against the computer for tax and so on.

If you're legal its nothing to be too concerned about

Saw this as well.

I recon they went out because they new they would not have to leave the comfort of the road side. Just sit there having a nice brew while no one speeds as it was very wet conditions
