every time I see a 458 I yearn for the upgrade.....but with the recent surge in the prices of 430's in the classifieds I may be looking at keeping mine a while longer yet

A Techart 997 GT Street-RS yikes on the A580 East Lancs Road near Golborne yesterday.

I didn't get a picture but it looked exactly like this:

720bhp. £300k+ yikes
That reminds me about something unusual I saw on Sunday in Manchester actually, possibly a PHer.

It was the modified Cayman that I think I've seen pictures of on here, but the name escapes me. There can't be many of them but it's possibly a TechArt Cayman which is why you reminded me.

I was half smashed when I saw it though so it could've been a Cayman Halfords GTXRi Turbo Innit but it sounded nicer than a fart in a bin and looked nice so probably not.

I'm curious about how you know what a fart in a bin sounds like!! Is this knowledge from personal experience? ???

Love teh cars; I have seen the Lamborghini out on my travels.

If you don't mind my asking, which vehicle is your favourite? Which is/feels the fastest and which do you prefer owning?

Which vehicle is my favourite
Well without a doubt it has to be the SV its sheer presence with ostentatious styling takes your breath away
Which is/ feels the fastest
Without hesitation it has to be the Scuderia so nimble/agile and the lighting fast gear change not to mention the V8 sound track(compared to my other cars) its a ballistic missile
The 997turbo i find a little boring (tip/auto) yet an awesome long distance tourer, its remarkably comfortable considering it has 305/30/19 and 235/35/19 section tyres also it covers ground in no time rather stealth like in comparison to the Scud
My preferred car of choice is the 964t
Always wanted to own one, love the shape of the car and how the hips stand out, love everything about the 964t and thats why its my preferred choice!

Thank you for taking time out to reply.

I have three cars at the moment - not even half as good as your in all fairness (996 Turbo, Clio V6 and Mountuned new Fiesta ST) and, like you, I enjoy them for different reasons.

I would eventually consider a bigger (in other words, pricier) purchase in a few years time and that's why I asked for opinions. The Fiesta is our runabout and as much as we love it, that would be replaced for another half-decent shopping car but the Clio V6 and 911 Turbo on the other hand are my "toys" if you like and both already leave me unsure of what to do when the times comes - it is a case of deciding whether to add to or replace one or both of these cars. I suppose it all comes down to cost in the end...

A Ferrari or Lamborghini are cars I have always aspired to. Part of me also thinks that a newer 911 would be a decent upgrade (but then again, my 996 is a decent spec!) That's why I asked what the cars were like - didn't want to lead you by asking directly about the 911 (997) but that is on my list. I wanted you to tell me it was better than the Ferrari and you didn't!!!! haha

...better start saving up!!!

Get yourself into a good spec 997t Gen1 manual with PCCB and you will never look back
Ferrari Scud is a very special car for sure but if had to travel more than 200 miles i would want to be seated in a padded seats have some music with little or no noise from the engine
How people manage to do European tours in Scuds i will never know
Porsche for me all the way lol

I've approached it in a different way but my choices were as follows;

f430 for the fancy toy

rangey sport for entertaining the kids/school runs etc. (but the 5 ltr supercharged petrol so daddy can get to Tesco a bit quicker!)

bmw 320 m sport for a more frugal commute.

quite a good spread for me

That is a decent spread. I have messed around with different combinations (e.g. did have a Cosworth turbo Westfield as a toy, RS6 for family and Fabia VRS for a frugal commute) and the three we have at the moment work out reasonably well. Next stage for us is to move house and then I can start seriously considering next steps. I have never driven or been driven in a Ferrari but I would love to.

it's no exaggeration when I say this but my 430 is miles ahead of anything else I have ever had. I've had some lovely motors over the years but there has always been a down side. my v8v was gorgeous, sounded wonderful and was a beautiful place to sit.just wasn't fast enough for me. db7 was so beautiful I wanted to cry every time I looked at it but that auto transmission was ste, it just wasn't responsive enough and transmission shunt on motorway journeys really got on my nerves.

I had a rake of tvr's but the usual issues were issues for me too!!

I've said it on here before but of all the cars I've had the three that I regretted selling the most were my mk1 golf , my mk1 Tuscan and the silver f430. letting the 430 go was the hardest by far. so much so I lasted exactly 3 months before I bought the red one i'm driving now........at the risk of upsetting blown2cv the only thing that i could ever see getting out of my 430 for is a 458. everything else is second best!!

I test drove a DB7 before getting my 911 (this was in 2009) and I know what you mean.

I do like the Ferraris; I will have to PM you and ask you about it.

It's the sound in my head as I read Blown2CV's posts.

And NumberoftheBeast, I'm sure I've seen your Porsche around a few times so if you're considering a Ferrari, please feel free. hehe

Edit: Actually I've just seen your profile... do you have a brother called Elliott by any chance?

it's the cat-like agility that gets me. it's so incredibly fast over any type of road in any gear. it's almost like that film firefox where you think it and it happens. I feel like i've been plugged into the car. I did my first test drive back to back with a Gallardo and in comparison the lambo felt like a blunt instrument
