Transound.
I remember(1988/89) the owner having a red Porsche 959,his name was Leon and the reg number on the
car was 1EON.
He sold that car for a LOT of money. I knew Leon very well. If you know him, ask him about the time he got stung by the girl who ran the shop for him. I remember(1988/89) the owner having a red Porsche 959,his name was Leon and the reg number on the

He had a 2nd shop as you rightly say.
He was a nice guy. Just a bit soft and a "consumer" let's say!

Stuart Wilson are still going, operating out of a unit in Cheadle.
Remember well going up to Hyde with my mate back in the early nineties, he bought a set TSW stealth's for his MR2 MkI and I bought a set of TSW three spokes for my Lancia. They always had a two page spread in the 'trader.
I believe the shop on Deansgate was called 'Carnoisseur' which also sold stuff through a catalogue, again still going but internet based.
SW auto design. They fitted the toyos to my chimaera last year. Quite friendly place, and quite reasonable, and some nice ish motors around the place including an R34 skyline IIRCRemember well going up to Hyde with my mate back in the early nineties, he bought a set TSW stealth's for his MR2 MkI and I bought a set of TSW three spokes for my Lancia. Phil Davies Saab-I may well be wrong but I'm sure there was a rumour going round in the early 80's that the place was destroyed by fire and it was an insurance job.
I also seem to remember that the rumour was he spent some time in the big house, don't know if that is true. I also think he was involved with a tyre place on the way into Bolton.Clarkey boy said:

Same as the old FIAT garage near Cross St. in Oldham then (At the side of Adamason's Crash Repair)Two brothes owned that and one of them burnt the place down when they were struggling financially and he went to jail.
Can't remember the name of the garage at the moment. It was "(something) Brothers" I think.
The Vauxhall place in Denton: Is that Grimshaws or Wild & Hallam?
[quote=Bodie390]Does anyone remember a Vauxhall dealer going back 25years or more that was located at Junction 24 of the M60 at Denton.
It was there when Lancaster carperts was still there and well before the M60 itself ??
I used to play in the old garage and I was told it was an old Vauxhall garage [/quote
My Mum bought a Chevette of them in 1978, I seem to remember that they used to supply lots of cars to Kelvin Contact Lenses in Denton. Can't remember their name though.

There was another place that my brother used to go for his 'go faster stripes' - a shop on Deansgate in Manchester city centre.
We used to pop in there to look at the latest range of wheels from Momo/BBS. I think my brother bought a steering wheel from them for his Golf GTi.
During the 80's we also 'frequented' car stereo places for the latest releases from Alpine/Sony/Pioneer/Kenwood/Clarion etc... - happy days.
Do you remember the shop on Wilmslow Road (I think) near the Christie Hospital, can't remember what they were called. I had a few stereos/alarms fitted there.

I called at somewhere near Christies about 5 yrs back and the guy had a really old Jag racer in - will have a look for the pics of it that i took on my phone tonight. I'm sure he had a Ferrari Daytona in too. Seemed a lot of nice metal for a car radio fitter!

Does this place have a white frontage with a chequered-flag type logo with red text???

I remember my dad getting an (one of the first in the country) Atlas Grey 5-door Golf GTI from Howarth Motors in Warrington. I remember folk in pre-update Mk2 GTIs giving curious looks driving back to Chester. There too was the recently released Mk2 Scirocco Storm.
I seem to recall they folded as he ended up being charged with fraud of some description(?)
Whitefriars (?) in Chester was always a treat, various interesting cars turned over in there, from 6-series BMWs, 911s to Jensen Interceptors and the such.
Grosvenor Motors in Chester prior to Dane Mo Co taking over the whole place - I forget the name, but I remember an excited young GoogleBot and father looking through the windows at the soon to be picked up Mars Red 1.6 GTI - October 5th 1981. Jeez, I can remember that but I can't rememeber if I turned the oven off...
Red Rose Mo Co, BMW in Chester I remember excitedly going down there to view a black Testarossa. Actually, don't know if it was in the same place, but my Dad had his new MkII Lotus Cortina rolled by a 17 year old mechanic from there when prior to being a BMW outlet was a general second hand sporty stuff outlet. The mechanic got a job in Quicks the next week.
Quicks - the site of my first spotting of a Sierra, a Sierra Cosworth and actually pretty much every new release Ford for a decade.
