Ok, another one for the list:

Richard Rhodes Peugeot, previously Firsway Garage, Wigan, Peugeot Main dealer - now 'Stoneacre Peugeot' - seem to be trying to shift more pre-reg'd Fiats that sell new Pugs.

Does this place have a white frontage with a chequered-flag type logo with red text???

I called at somewhere near Christies about 5 yrs back and the guy had a really old Jag racer in - will have a look for the pics of it that i took on my phone tonight. I'm sure he had a Ferrari Daytona in too. Seemed a lot of nice metal for a car radio fitter!
Yes. Thay's the place. Ther's a bit more to him than fitting car radios wink

I have heard some stories about him all the way back to the 70's. A character.
Transound was on Wilmslow Road, but was burnt to the ground a couple of years ago.
A complete mystery apparently. Cough.
Cars Leon had from memory were a red Countach - the last ugly-wide-silled one - reg WOW1, a black Bentley Continental (the proper 60s one), met grey Aston DB5/6, tdf blue Dino, all taking turns to be stored in the workshops overnight. That Lambo used to be almost permenantly kept there - engine on for 60 seconds twice a day to move it out and in again to get customers cars in there.

He reminded me of that John McCrirrick (sp?) racing chap when i met him!

I saw the blue Dino - very nice. The Jag was a green D-type racer i think. I have pics somewhere - will root em out and post them up.

Good spot! I've not seen one on the road yet. The reviews seem to suggest that Peugeot are getting a bit closer to the mark again!

AS a very young trainee salesman (16)i started off at Radcliffe Road Garage of RRG Toyota fame, then went to AFG BOLTON Nissan, AFG were the uk dealers for nissan fiat and a couple of other franchises...

Anyone remember Currie motors austin rover dealer, i remeber metros actually dripping oil on the showroom floor..... '''brand new ones that is'''

I then got a job at 'Chorley auto' VW/Audi dealer

These jobs were over a 5 year period, i really hated the metros and rover 213/216

OMC stands for Oldham Motor Company, iirc.

How about Kennings Glossop (Leyland), Manchester Garages, Abrahms Vauxhall, or I remember a Jeep dealer on the main street in Hyde. Sports Motors Stockport anyone?

Before Firsway, it was called Saddler Peugeot I think.

Does anyone remember that?

Also the Renault dealership just up the road on the corner, Cherry Tree Autos I think that was called.

re Manchester Garages,do you remember that on Oxford road they had a group of car jockey's who when you checked your car in they then drove to the back of the site like an early version of the Stig, only less talented.

Hi Sider,I think the dealer on Elephant Lane was a Vauxhall dealer, now demolished and now a nursing home.Millennium Motorcycles are by Thatto Heath railway station, they may have been a Saab dealer at one time.regarding a previous mention of the old Gorners Mercedes Benz dealer in Ashton in Makerfield that one is now an Arnold Clark.

Certainly do, my best mate was a salesman there around 1972. Sales manager was John Woods IIRC.

I Bought a new Triumph Spitfire Mk 4 from Henley's of Burnage in 1973.

Can anyone remember what the old Peugeot dealer in Oldham was called? They were up near the top end of Alexandra Park. My Dad bought a Wedgewood Blue 309 from them.

Lookers had Peugeot for a couple of years, you thinking of Park Road site?

Martins VW anyone? Will try and get a picture of the rear window sticker tomorrow if the car is still there.

Not Park Rd, I think it might have been somewhere along Glodwick Rd but I could be wrong. Wasn't Lookers, or any of the other big names I don't think. The car was c-reg, so we're talking mid 80's.
