Aiden Piers website says
"Aidan Piers Ltd has been in business since Feb 1993"
Feel like they've been around longer than that!

Feel like they've been around longer than that! Strictly speaking Aidan Piers Ltd hasn't been around since 93. It was a partnership before it became a Ltd company. Aidan Piers isn't a person it's the first names of the original partners added together. They started off selling cars from the driveway of one of the partners homes in Chorlton.

i remember aiden piers well, the best adverts in the north west auto mart with the least amount of cars.
Now this shows i studied the automart like a good un..............
wo remembers aiden piers used to sell cars and the fancy alloys were available extra by poa ??? i never saw a car dealer sell a car with a pic and then try selling the wheels xtra.
then i remember they tried selling themselves as a boardroom for buisness functions/meetings. Just stick to selling leggy porsches vw's and audi's ffs lol.

that reminds me................. the north west automart adverts on the telly.
ok so not exactly a old nw car dealer but i reckon 95% of all old nw car dealers used it.
iirc a bird used to say quickly ..............North West Auto Mart.
for years and even now i and older car dealers still call the autotrader the auto mart.
its all changed but i remember buying cars on a b+w titchy pic and ferling the car looked good.
people don't realise how good it is these days with modern technology.
i used to have to wait in for the automart agent to bung a xr3i or rs1600i xr2 etc in and now its all done by yourself.
i used agent 17 lesley mclaren who did the pics from day 1 until when they gave her the boot......................
shame the mag is being propped up now because of the internet and the mag sales are pitifull these days. Not so in the 80's and 90's lol when we would get the mag in warrington at the 1st chance and go buying the bargains.

Been up to Bygone times today and drove through Heskin, can't believe the old HW Moon Toyota place hasn't been converted into a carpet or tile warehouse yet!
Sign of the times i suppose!

I had a very strange experience when I went to look at a Subaru Impreza WRX wagon there some years ago - me and my mate felt like we were being interviewed for a job for about an 1hr before they would let us see the "mint" car - eventually we had a look and took it for a drive - the belts and most of the back seats had been chewed by a dog and there was a turbo surging problem during the test drive. Strangely enough I didn't buy the car....

Was given a book as a Christmas present:More Manchester Memories. There is an interesting article on Williams Motor Company. A business founded in 1909 repairing horse-drawn vehicles for the railway companies.
They moved into car sales in the 60s then acquiring a BMW franchise in 1970 opening a new showroom on Deansgate, Manchester. Anyone here bought from them in the early years before they went 'corporate' and expanded into the large business now they operate under.
Quote from the book " Not bad progress for a firm which set out as Wheelwright's repairing horse-drawn vehicles!"
The BMW dealership on Upper Brook Street has been there since the mid 80's. I think it could do with a facelift.......the site is so unappealing and looks dated.

Do you mean the new MTB at the back of the Vauxhall place?
Last i heard they seemed to be no longer the franchised dealer for Chrysler/Dodge, but just did servicing.
Shame as they've been with Jeep for years.

Shame as they've been with Jeep for years. Yes, they moved there from Newton-le-Willows about 2007. They started selling a mix of bread and butter cars like Citroens. All the windows are boarded up, and not a car in sight.

Is Clock Renault still in Chorley? Not really been up Chorley way since i left my last employer about 3 yrs back.
