Stan Palmers are still around.

Lloyds are doing really well, with loads of franchises now.

CG Ford went around 5 or 6 years ago I think, at least the garage in Carlisle is now run by the GK Group.
It would appear that Ford in Penrith has now been gobbled up by Arnold Clark.

CG Ford was taken over by the GK Group who sold their Cumbrian Ford sites (Penrith, Carlisle & Workington I think) to Arnold Clark about three years ago.

Not completely gone but Kitchens Renault in Burnley has more or less vanished. Only a service / parts centre below the original dealership now. Pity as they'd been there years.
Showroom is a Subway / nasty logbook loan place now.

TwoMills on the Wirral is losing the Honda franchise, which they've held for 44 years. They'll remain official repairers though.

I know they do a bit of prestige used as well, but I wonder how long they'll survive?

Nah, Gorners went under in around 2005/6.

They built that shiney new TVR and Brabus showroom in Wigan. And then lasted around 12 months or so.

Showroom in Wigan is now Arnold Clark - think it's a Fiat/Chrysler place.

Not sure about Warrington - but won't be Gorners whatever it is!

Ceased trading in the last week or so. Site up for let now. Many many years I've driven past there admiring their showroom. It was an NSX dealer too back in the day.

Shame

Will probably end up as an Arnold Clark/Carcraft type operation

Far too small, I would imagine.

It is a shame - the salesman we dealt with had been there 20 years and I only found out the other day that we vaguely know one of the guys who founded the business although he retired a few years ago.

AC took over the old HL Gorner site in Wigan - and that was a Brabus and TVR dealer - not exactly big!

Nice showroom though and have turned the warehouse space into a 'car supermarket' type room. But they're not a Fiat and Chrysler main dealer.

Worrying thing about 2Mills is that rent isn't specified - it's a case of make us an offer - which AC may well do!

Cant remember the names of these two, and after quickly skimming through this thread, didn't see them either, but...what was the name of the Rootes dealer on Crompton Street in Wigan near the level crossing? And the Triumph dealer on Wigan Lane, not too far from Cresta.

There was a Vauxhall dealer in Wigan also, Mabs Cross Motors.

What's happened with Two Mills and Honda? Did Honda take the franchise from them or did they hand it back? They'd been there for years and as previously stated, always seemed to have an NSX in the showroom when the NSX was current. Sad to see them go.

Honda took it away. As I mentioned earlier, they've held the franchise for 44years.

Does anyone know of the Toyota Garage that was near the Ship inn in Styal, at the back off Manchester Airport?
also does anyone remember the H&J Quicks garage on Wilmslow Rd, Handforth. Near the Belfry Hotel. Which was before Rinds the Jaguar dealer on the bend?
In the early 60's i remember a garage at the junction where the Post House Hotel is now in Northenden before the Princess Parkway\M56 is now i'm sure it was a Henley's garage?
